On the street entering the airport there were vehicles pulled off to either side of the street. The driver said people were parked there trying to access wifi.

Also, it seems like all the shops and restaurants are cash only. At least the ones we’ve been in.

Got through MJB pretty easily. We were able do check-in online the night before and had our digital boarding passes. Not sure if that helped. It’s pretty warm in here. Dress comfortably if you’re passing through this airport.

We might have to. Just worried about the travel there. Our transport service isn’t sending buses. We have to pay for a private taxi with $300 cash. And the ATMs are still down. So I’m trying to conserve whatever cash we have on hand.

I was on vacation before Melissa was even a tropical storm. My family always goes around this time of year to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday to this exact resort. Take your rudeness somewhere else. There is such a thing as not commenting if you have nothing nice to say.

West Jet has yet again screwed my family over. I got an email stating that my flight was leaving earlier tomorrow. When I called to get my seats assigned, they told me the plane had no more seats available. If I didn’t call, I would have been stranded at MBJ tomorrow.

That’s nice. The Canadian Government gave me an email before the hurricane hit with contacts that have been useless to me. They haven’t attempted to check on me even though I registered my travel. I’m still trying to get home. Fingers crossed that west jet doesn’t cancel tomorrow’s flight.

Many foreigners left the resort today to travel through Kingston. Flights were not available for purchase online. They seem to all be rescue flights organized by vacation companies that were unable to get their customers out before the hurricane.

The lack of communications is spreading disinformation. Was constantly told that MBJ was flattened. Luckily a guest on the resort drove to Montego yesterday and was able to confirm that there was some flooding of roads around the building but it appears mostly intact.

Still on the resort. Being told my flight will be on Sunday. My cellular service seems to be back up through Flow. It’s strange that the staff is having trouble getting reception, but someone roaming from a Canadian phone can.

No. The resort has an internal channel for information. Cellular service is still down and phone lines. Not sure how the resort managed to pull off wifi, but so happy to let my family know we’re ok.

Yes. We were very fortunate that there was minimal damage to our rooms. There were many rooms that were trashed. Luckily the resort was able to move people around.
