I think thing that I and maybe some other liberals don't understand is how with some people on the left didn't see enough of a difference between Harris and Trump to vote for Harris. I still don't get that.

How is it that this is 2026 and we still have people in congressional hearings holding up posters behind the speaker? We can't have video boards and an actual multimedia system?

Probably social media, TBH. People are able to voice their feelings in a way and get validation in a way they weren't able to 42 years ago. Could also be argued the rich are richer now in comparison to the mid 80s and that also helps shape the overall perception. I'm not disagreeing with you.
IMO, people don't have a fundamental understanding of what inflation actually is, and as a result, expect prices to go down. Also, if they were making $75K in 2022 and are maybe making $80K this year, their wages haven't kept up with inflation. A 2.5% raise doesn't feel like it helps.
I think the point here is that how people feel emotionally about the economy and their own personal financial situations doesn't line up with the story the data is telling us about the entire situation. The data says one thing, experiences say another. It's possible both are correct.
My guess, people in the middle income brackets don't feel like they are seeing positive changes to their financial positions while others are. They see their pay increase by 2.5% while folks at the top make significantly more, and folks at the bottom see minimum wage double.
