When someone posts something that looks like this.
With airspace between every sentence to emphasize profundity.
Even in sentence fragments.
Because of concision.
Which is the most powerful weapon we have.
The likelier it is that you are reading some terrible overshared AI-generated crap.

Firmly in Camp “If you’ve never missed a flight, you’re leaving too early for the airport”
I did not know this!
Agree. I left X completely. There seems to be some law prof community here. I use LinkedIn for more “newsy” things—and I see folks using it for writing things that feel like short essays. But the LinkedIn interface/algorithm just doesn’t seem to encourage real-time conversation.
I would like to feel more confident that potential users are making informed decisions, fully aware of the risks to critical thinking posed by some uses of the generative AI.
A closeup of a sign with an AI prompt reading “walk me step by step through the process to solve this calculus problem for my homework set.”
Not to do coursework, right??
A large display sign reading #GEMINIONCAMPUS
The other side of a large display sign, with large text reading “PRACTICED TO PREPARED,” “NOTES TO NAILED IT” and “REVIEW IT TO RETAIN IT”
Walking past an enormous display encouraging students to use AI…

But not to do coursework, right?
You’re going to love it! 🦅
I heard a horror story once of a professor who brought handwritten exams on a vacation and lost them. But I guess it’s also a happy story: A’s for everyone.
A movie couple who would definitely have a podcast.
"A people sometimes will step back from war,
elect an honest man, decide they care
enough, that they can’t leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for..."

Gen X here. Some people never had to read Z is for Zachariah (for 6th grade science?!) and it shows.

“Peace need not be impracticable, and war need not be inevitable... For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal.”—John F. Kennedy

“We love you, from the moon.” #ArtemisII
When I was a kid, a (very distant) relative told me I couldn’t grow up to be an astronaut because of my poor vision.
But I just heard an astronaut mention needing some reading glasses. Space affects where the fluid in your body settles and therefore can change anyone's eyesight!
Yes, I *am* watching & listening to the Artemis II lunar observation, because “astronaut” is the first thing I remember wanting to be when I grew up. This is as cool as anything I’ve ever seen!
[rhetorical question] then why are universities asking us to use it
This is so special!
We’ve entered the “are those white things flowering pear tree blossoms or snowflakes” phase of Ohio spring.
Depluralize a movie.

So many people don’t understand “comprise” that, even if you use it correctly, there’s a good chance somebody’s going to think you’re using it wrong.
We had this book at my grandma’s house! My sister and I still reference it.
Congratulations!
Another day, another typo I notice in an email after sending it.
But wait.
Aren’t typos sort of like a certificate of authenticity now? A signal I wrote from scratch, using my human brain, instead of punting to AI?
You know what, don’t answer that. I like that narrative and I’m running with it.
Martin Luther worked up 95 theses and he just …. tweeted it out.
“Columbus-style pizza,“ or as I—Columbus born and bred—like to call it, “pizza.”

Context: I find many incoming students have been in educational settings that use Google Docs more than Word, and so they haven’t yet picked up all the Word skills that they may need.
1000% agree. Question: What are some other basic Word skills that should be in every lawyer’s toolbox? Asking as a prof teaching great future lawyers. #AppellateSly #LawSky
