Japan allows a lot of things the US does not in terms of copyright lol
Which is decidedly NOT, as he claims, "quite stylish."
Wait until S 11 when they talk about SpongeBob
The salad is on the side of the eggs, is how I understood it.
Tbf she treats him terribly too...
Bluesky is made with AI, the engineers and even some non-engineers use Claude code
Yup. There was a whole side conversation among people who use Creative Commons licenses and then expect to be able to use full copyright behaviors
"Why do we as users allow this to happen? Why do we not think through the implications of our interactions with technology? This is in part because technology was designed to not invite critical discussions of its side effects and assumptions." #librarysky

Not to mention, the process is vulnerable to a massive number of bogus claims.
Very very interesting.
I wonder how this kind of framework would hold up in court. Will we need reproducible models as evidence for copyright cases?
As a #copyright librarian-agent, things like this drive me crazy. You know what would solve all of these problems?
Agent-agent/infringer, rather than agent-platform (algo)-infringer, communication. This would not only prevent bogus DMCA claims, but also ensure swift, direct notices.
JSYK, college freshmen do this almost exclusively. It skipped two generations, but it's back now!
If anyone (librarian or not!) would like to join/help create "critical analysis of AI discourse through science fiction" group on Discord or Slack, or somewhere else, let me know! #sciencefiction #science
We went from #Asimov to #Sagan, #Capek to #Weizenbaum, and all over in between. If you would like the slides, let me know. The recording will be up within a week from today.
Our main goal was "learning about AI through science fiction," and we compared science fiction quotes and narratives with real-life science and AI development quotes.
I had an astoundingly well-received #sciencefiction session yesterday at the #Library 2.0 Perspectives on AI (in Libraries) Conference!

#Music LA Phil has named Anna Handler, 29, as its new Conductor-in-Residence for a three-year term. The rising German conductor is also set for a residency at Beethoven House in Bonn later this year. A notable next step in a fast-growing career. #ClassicalMusic #LAPhil
I believe that was also the SAME fireside in which he asked "why did white people have to wait..."
It was at that moment that I stopped reading his books on the Atonement. Anyone who can so cavalierly dismiss others' beliefs does not understand Christ.
There are so many issues with this argument, and the characterization of #Buddhism as a monolith in the replies, I don't have an idea where to begin...
And this is because, then as now, #Buddhism, #Daoism, #Islam, etc. are mainly considered as curiosities, religious groups whose sayings and practices we can mis-appropriate with abandon.
The Salt Lake Temple has long been a central part of our lives and community. I was so grateful to see it fully lit up again and (mostly) free of scaffolding for the first time in almost 7 years.
One would certainly think so...
