even though it's wholly unsurprising to see the political establishment act so spineless, i'm still brain broken by it all.

i know you know this, but i feel compelled to vocalize it: more we normalize intentionally evil policies by intellectualizing them, the more we normalize the underlying evil.

Kuleba: Joe Rogan, let’s talk and set the record straight on Ukraine Joe Rogan lashed out at Ukraine on his latest podcast, expressing strong criticism of the United States for lifting restrictions on Ukraine’s use of U.S.-supplied weapons to target Russian territory a...

Rogan’s podcast misses the point: when discussing a nation’s fight for survival, it’s not just about bold opinions — it’s about listening to the voices of those who are living the reality, former foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba writes in his op-ed.

Drake Files Second Action Against UMG, Alleging Defamation Over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘False’ Song Drake has launched a second legal action against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” accusing the music giant of defamation.

what a wild crash out. there's a non-zero chance drake's lawyers have to make the legal case that "actually term kendrick lamar should have used is 'certified ephebophile.'"

feels like this is becoming the platform for collaborating*against* fascism and zombie twitter is the space where people proudly boast that they're collaborating*with* fascists.

feel like a presence on both is probably pretty important

but also fair warning: it was written in 1937 from an anti-colonial lens and there are a few very cringey positive references to the soviet union. it's just a few lines while wrapping up one or two chapters in the book but i feel obligated to mention they exist

The Black Jacobins: Toussaint L'Ouverture and the San Domingo Revolution C.L.R James · Audiobook

i recently read the black jacobins by clr james. it's the history of the haitian revolution told from a haitian perspective

it was super motivating/inspiring. there are parallels to noth ukrainian history and contemporary politics. i feel grounded for the oncoming fascist trump era after reading it

tbh that's just establishment politics: wait for a predictable problem to occur, let it fester while hemming and hawing about what to do, then slap on an inadequate solution that comes too late

it's especially infuriating when it's applied to life and death situations, like war and atrocity crimes

if we're talking national presidential politics among the two major parties, then i can probably concede the point.

but it's still important for a myriad of reasons to run candidates in districts/states you know you can't win. in those cases, losing doesn't immediately imply you ran a poor campaign

i disagree that any losing campaign was inherently poorly run, but kamala definitely miscalculated and made poor decisions. you don't lose ground among practically every demographic to a literal fascist and get landslided in the electoral college if you ran a good campaign

if you think jackson hinkle is a russian shill, i'll have you know that he doesn't get paid a fraction of what tim pool and dave rubin got. he simps for russian colonialism practically for free 😤

After all the military imperialist marches russia organized on colonized territories, it is tone-deaf for the russian metropolitan activists - who never speak to the colozed - organize a march in Berlin. Why not call it a demonstraion?

Anti-Putin does not mean anti-imperial. Why the romanticisation of Russian dissidents is misleading In the German debate on the Russian anti-Putin camp, the problematic aspects of this milieu are often ignored. The Russian perspective continues to be prioritized other those of the colonized.

Today's "Anti-War March" in Berlin, led by Navalnaya, Kara-Murza & Yashin seems an appropiate day to re-publish my essay on why the West and in particular Germany should take a closer look at the self-proclaimed leaders of the Russian opposition in English:

Hey, y'all. 👋 I am a human rights defender, genocide expert, and researcher with a background in journalism and communications.

On Twitter, I largely limit my posts to Ukraine/Eastern Europe.

Over here, I'll probably be a bit more of a political generalist in my commentary (for better or worse).

i agree it was a shared cultural experience, but i do think, above all, it was mostly elder abuse.

i had so many bots artificially inflating my follower count on twitter, and now i'm never going to reach 1000 followers 😭

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive
