He's a liar and a killer. I don't know what else to tell people, he's a rich eugenicist, he wants as many poor people as possible to die in the name of 'health.' He's a genuinely and uniquely malign figure in American life and his appointment was an act of violence

The Justice Dept’s theory of the case— that the group that single-handedly disassembled the Ku Klux Klan defrauded its donors by concealing that it was using paid informant to do that work and more— has about as much merit as the now-dismissed charges against Jim Comey.

No one talks like this, this is an invented problem
This is my district and it is full of little old ladies who are demanding to abolish ice (and that’s the floor for them)
Judgment The history books were absolutely cooking me. Simply because of who I had been and what I had done. They always warned about this in my day but who could give a shit now. Almost no one makes it in those things. When they even bother to publish them anymore. Either way I’m chilling here in this elaborate tomb with all of my gold and the skeletons of dozens of my women and most loyal soldiers. The landscaping outside always well fertilized. Every day people file by to come look at where I rest. Where I still exist. You could almost say I never even died. And what did they write about you?

It’s FOMO. It’s so dumb but it’s just FOMO
it’s a potion
I think part of the reason the Pope thing is hitting so much is that modern life is so devoid of *any* morality, any system of right and wrong that is not completely hollow and fraudulent, which hits as halfway sensible and opposed to Trump and those like him, feels absolutely revolutionary
“It is not radical to say that a worker who toils every day cannot make ends meet, that they deserve justice, that they deserve higher wages,” Mejía said Thursday night. “That is not radical, that is good conscience. That is a good economy.”

how long do you think it’ll take for them to call it for Mejia?
crazy how there's always the exact amount of defectors to vote against stuff like this when it pops up. surely a coincidence. a really unfortunate one, too.
A lot of people are going "oh how convenient/controlled opposition/etc.", which is probably more the answer (I'm nothing if not naive), but I stand by my post because they shouldn't be allowed to either get away with being controlled opposition or being dogshit at their jobs
Cowardly framing
Why did they include a picture of a frumpy outfit?
I understand Pope fatigue (I was confirmed by a child molester) and to an extent it's a Let Them Fight situation but it's genuinely important and different that the Catholic Church, a major geopolitical actor with endless resources dating back millennia, is coming out hard against fascism this time
besides housing and energy, these are the most important and most significant costs for a typical household
Someone may be excommunicated sooner than we all thought.
jd vance would be so owned right now if he had religion or spirituality or shame or feelings or a human soul
previous Popes were far more interested in politicking and playing nice
This is dead on and imo a major miscalculation based on not knowing a thing about Pope Leo the man, not just the office holder
Cartoon of man exasperatedly throwing his hands up and saying "I guess"
Millions of lapsed Catholics realizing that they have become realigned with the Pope against their will
This is the same Marvel that hollowed out its entire Atlanta production wing, despite a decade of tax subsidies and literal museum exhibits down here about their “contributions to Georgia arts.” to quote Stephanie Sterling, “the problem is these people don’t want money. They want all the money.”
