M3 Globular Cluster. 33.9k light years away in Canes Venatici. A ball of about 500k ancient stars. 8hrs exposure time from Leeds shot over various nights in May and June. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
Nice one!
Cheers Bernd !
Another version of M57. This time shot with my 728mm focal length refractor. Spot the difference 🤣 #astronomy #astrophotography
Cheers!
Cheers Bernd!
M57 The Ring Nebula! A planetary nebula in the constellation of Lyra. 2570 light years away from Leeds UK where I shot it from. 19 and a half hours of data used, shot over shot over numerous short summer nights. #astrophotography #astronomy
Abell 39 is a faint planetary nebula about 3800 light years away from Earth in the constellation of Hercules. Its shell has a radius of about 1.4 light years and has a nearly perfect spherical shape. It looks like a bubble in space!
Abell 39 captured from my patio on seven nights in June 😊🔭
This bubble like planetary nebula was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of 27 hours in mono using Ha and OIII narrowband filters and RGB filters for the stars.

@kat-astro-bot.bsky.social what do you see?
NGC 6543 is a planetary nebula about 3300 light years away from Earth in the constellation Draco. There’s a dying Wolf-Rayet star in its centre. The bright core is surrounded with a faint cobweb like structure.
NGC 6543 The Cat’s Eye Nebula captured from my patio on seven nights 😊🔭
This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 27 hours in mono. It’s a combination of Ha and OIII narrowband data with LRGB data for the core and the stars.

Very cool Bernd!
Cheers Bernd. Reprocessed some older data to see I could get more detail using x3 drizzle.
Close in on the Bubble Nebula x3 drizzle. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
Ys its amazing!
Ta!
The "Pillars of Creation" as seen from Ermita Neuva in Spain, taken last September. I have reprocessed the data using a x3 drizzle. This has brought out more detail. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
Thanks!
Ta! Yes that's correct re location
Cheers!
Thanks! No this visible light. The red colours are ionised hydrogen gas the blues are ionised oxygen. The main bit of processing was to reduce the brightness of the core so that it wasn't blown out in comparison to the edges.
Cheers!
Thanks Bernd!
The Orion Nebula. Just over ten hours of data taken over two years. A winter target - only just got round to processing #Astrophotography #Astronomy
A "solar can" image i.e. a pin hole camera made from a beer can. 14 MONTHS! Exposure tracking the course of the sun from the roof of the Gledhow wing looking south to the Bexley wing at StJames hospital Leeds #astrophotography #astronomy
Cheers Bernd !
M92 the other major globular cluster in Hercules. 26,700 light years away, 108 ly across. Mass of 330k suns! Very ancient stars. Due to the earth's wobble in 14000 yrs this cluster will be within 1 degree of the north celestial pole. Shot from Leeds. 11 hrs data used. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
Cheers Bernd!
Cheers!
I am guessing they would be starry!
M13 The Great Globular Cluster in Hercules. Shot from Leeds over the last week. A gaint ball of ancient "population II" stars approx 145 light years across and about 22.2k light years away. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
