Abell 39 is a faint planetary nebula about 3800 light years away from Earth in the constellation of Hercules. Its shell has a radius of about 1.4 light years and has a nearly perfect spherical shape. It looks like a bubble in space!

Abell 39 captured from my patio on seven nights in June 😊🔭

This bubble like planetary nebula was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of 27 hours in mono using Ha and OIII narrowband filters and RGB filters for the stars.

NGC 6543 is a planetary nebula about 3300 light years away from Earth in the constellation Draco. There’s a dying Wolf-Rayet star in its centre. The bright core is surrounded with a faint cobweb like structure.

Very cool Bernd!

Cheers Bernd. Reprocessed some older data to see I could get more detail using x3 drizzle.

The "Pillars of Creation" as seen from Ermita Neuva in Spain, taken last September. I have reprocessed the data using a x3 drizzle. This has brought out more detail. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

Thanks! No this visible light. The red colours are ionised hydrogen gas the blues are ionised oxygen. The main bit of processing was to reduce the brightness of the core so that it wasn't blown out in comparison to the edges.

M92 the other major globular cluster in Hercules. 26,700 light years away, 108 ly across. Mass of 330k suns! Very ancient stars. Due to the earth's wobble in 14000 yrs this cluster will be within 1 degree of the north celestial pole. Shot from Leeds. 11 hrs data used. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
