Built my first watch today. Bought a beat up 2011 vintage Seiko 5 Sports automatic on eBay and kept the movement, dial and hands, installing them into a new case along with a new bezel and screw-in crown. Super happy!

We had a seamstress friend to make our name tags. I’m the one holding the .45.

We were not quite that ambitious. We did have to source jumpsuits, which we hand dyed and find a seamstress to make our name tags.

That’s me and my trusty .45 auto. Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

I have both types of standard electronics solder - leaded and lead-free. The leaded melts at a slightly lower temp and flows much easier with flux paste. Both are equally strong enough to do the job.

I'm using the Bernz-o-matic pencil torch. It's a few years old now but there may be current models available.

The butane does fine pinpoint heat with a lot less mess. I also have a resistance iron but prefer this.

I’ve done this enough and have a variety of LED types to solve most situations. I’m also using a cool white color temperature for most cabin lighting to make things consistent.

Color balance be damned. C'mon and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out… CTO.
