Lucky enough to get down to Te Waihorotiu this afternoon to see the City Rail Link train test. Trains coming & going every couple of minutes, going to be a busy place later this year.

Do you have a paper on this? Been looking at doing something similar myself, though appears to require manually creating GTFS in small regions.

Airport access has changed a lot, certainly to Manukau. From Onehunga & Mangere better than expected but room for improvement, first bus arrives 5.05am airport, last bus leaves midnight. Though wider connections can be lacking or very slow.

Interested in how to get public transport that works, even in traffic-heavy suburban cities?

My book lays out the ins and outs of transit planning, with theory and practice grounded in years of experience on what works.

a tweet from the white house that says "CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING"

a tweet from the white house that says "CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING"

It's kinda crazy to remember that the mass protests today got their start (and name) from a tweet about congestion pricing

Great thread about development of Australian suburban rail systems. Wellington closely followed in 1938, but then NZ stalled until Auckland electrified in 2014.

I've ridden 5274 unique km in Auckland. For comparison, Christchurch City (incl Banks Peninsula) is 4500 unique km. Wellington region (though excl Wairarapa) is 5210 unique km.

I've done 5274 unique kilometres in Auckland. In August last year calculated had done 7882km just doing these specific 1km at time rides. Have done another 30 rides since then so getting close to 10,000km over 5 years just for this goal. Have done 30,000km overall in that time.

I include the asterisk, because Big Bay on the Manukau Heads is just under 18km from my house as the crow flies, but is 109km by bike! Was hoping to do an overnight trip there this summer (riding from Pukekohe station), but haven't yet found a weekend that works, aiming to do it soon!

Started off 5 years ago this week with a lockdown challenge to ride every street within 3km of my house. Kept going in subsequent lockdowns, adding 1km at a time. Now have ridden every* street within 18km of my house, which covers 46% of roads in the Auckland region!
