We have to understand and absorb the fact these people are not going to do anything for us they don’t have to do
Mitch Hedberg bit on a donut shop receipt:
"The rise of extreme wealth is one of the clearest signs of this imbalance. In 1987, billionaires held wealth equal to 3% of global GDP. Today this tiny elite, just 0.0001% of the world population, owns the equivalent of *16%* of world GDP in wealth."
This has been an open secret for years among everyone at Harvard Law but we're not supposed to acknowledge it officially.
It's completely perverting the entire profession and ensuring ideological capture.
I study racism for a living and can still manage to be shocked by how institutionalized it is. What do you mean they were giving tax-breaks to white supremacists celebrating treason?
just a wild country
The truth is that "The truth is somewhere in the middle" is often not true.
Finished D.T.F. St. Louis. I don't think we appreciate enough what an amazing character actor Richard Jenkins continues to be after all these years. But the whole cast is a delight. It's tender and deeply heartbreaking show.
Imagine meeting someone at a dinner party and being like, "hi, what do you do?" and they're like, "I manufacture litigation to stop black people from going to college."
Making tenure count, for MSNOW I wrote about my employer, The University of Iowa, creating a center for intellectual freedom. It's a reactionary project built on decades of conservative propaganda about higher ed.
I don't think most New Yorkers understand how evil and far-reaching this stuff gets www.nytimes.com/2019/08/15/n...
Artemis II Return NASA's Orion spacecraft carrying Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Christina Koch from NASA, along with Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen from the CSA (Canadian Space Agency), splashes down in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California, at 5:07 p.m. PDT, (8:07 p.m. EDT) on Friday, April 10, 2026. The Artemis II test flight launched on Wednesday, April 1, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida to begin its 10-day journey around the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and to build on our foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars. Science is good. We should fund it.
HOUSTON (AP) — Artemis II’s astronauts return to Earth, ending a record-breaking trip around the moon with a splashdown in the Pacific.
To all who celebrate

Behold our beautiful and brave colleague, murdered today! You know the drill, unfortunately, so…
Say his name: Mohammed Wishah, Al Jazeera reporter, killed today in Gaza.
US-Israel has assassinated nearly 300 journalists in Palestine, Lebanon and Iran in just 2 years.

JUST IN: Judge Murphy has postponed the termination of temporary protected status for Ethiopians living in the United States, saying the Trump administration violated the process for revoking it. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I'm trying to get in contact with the INEHRM, but I'm having no luck.
Do you happen to know someone who works there who I could reach out to?
This is mine too.
Icon!
Also of note, Iowa paid Chris Rufo—perhaps the leading propagandist for the current assault on higher ed, an unqualified hack and admitted fabulist—$34,000 to speak. It's embarrassing that any higher ed institution would invite him, especially when they are cutting departmental budgets.
I think people are allowed to draw conclusions about the American people based on their decision to put this man in office bsky.app/profile/pear...
scene from lord of the rings "this is it, if I take one more step it'll be the farthest away from home I've ever been"
Artemis II today.
A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.
BREAKING: Another person has died in ICE custody, per required notification to Congress, marking 15 deaths in detention this year and 45+ since Trump took office again.
A student just described the Articles of Confederation as thirteen different countries in a trench coat pretending to be one country and I don't think I will ever recover.
lol!
