When Heath Hrappstead kept his 5-year-old Husky home from doggy day care for the day so she could attend an afternoon vet appointment, Missy made other plans.
She dug her way out of the backyard and took herself to Spot's Place in Regina to visit her boyfriend Shaggy instead.😂

A rights agenda for the incoming government

🌍Today is Ireland's Overshoot Day. If the rest of the world consumed like Ireland since Jan 1st, the Earth would run out of resources on Apr 14th.
Last year, this date was May 17th.
This is not just! The climate crisis is happening NOW, and is impacting families in Ireland & around the world.
The Irish Times view on live facial recognition technology:
"The ICCL is right to question whether the technology is necessary or proportionate. [...] The Minister for Justice must make his case that such a significant circumscription of civil liberties is truly in the public interest."
ICCL published the Irish Network of Legal Observers' first annual report last month, which identified emerging issues in how protests are policed.
The right to peaceful protest is essential in a democracy.
Your support of ICCL allows us to continue this work.

The right to peaceful protest is a cornerstone of our democracy and should be protected.
That right is not contingent on the popularity of views expressed. Democratic governments must demonstrate a level of tolerance for peaceful protest even if it causes disruption.

💔 love watching nature programmes out these wonderful creatures - remember March of the Penguins. Humans are a curse on the earth!
They're already governing like they have a majority that will last forever, and are facing no opposition because their agenda is perfectly acceptable to the Conservatives.
Just booked my flight home and I am ready for a Maritime summer 🦞🌊🍦
'Gender pay gap' agenda a pointless contrivance that ignores the reality of women like me
Steen has managed in this article to mis analyse the gender pay gap- it’s not only the care issue, it’s a systemic gendered hierarchy which has existed forever.Even women without children are paid less than their male colleagues! Do better Ms Steen it’s just not about you,it’s the patriarchal system
Vitally important thread from my brilliant colleague @olgacronin.bsky.social on the expansion of State surveillance via Garda drone use:
The State should promptly act to establish a public inquiry and issue a State apology to the Sallins men.

I am proud to continue the historic work of @iccl.bsky.social working on this case. While there have been considerable improvements in human rights-based policing in Ireland since 1976, this does not negate the Irish government's obligation to investigate historic acts of torture and ill-treatment.
I first met Osgur Breatnach at the International Human Rights Law Clinic during my LLM, and was struck by his relentless pursuit for justice and accountability. Despite a five decade long fight, Osgur bravely and passionately continues his advocacy for a public inquiry and State apology.
There has yet to be a human rights compliant investigation exploring the wrongful arrest and conviction of the Sallins men, the torture and ill-treatment they faced in custody, and their treatment by the Irish State since.
🧵 Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Sallins train robbery. The Sallins men suffered an egregious miscarriage of justice with the effects of their wrongful arrests and conviction persists to this day.
20 years ago today, the Terrorism Act 2006 came into force.
It expanded the UK's counter terror powers on top of an already broad definition of ‘terrorism’.

Ooof. Quite a week for Carney fans and their task of reconciling his actions with their belief in who he is. Let's review. 🧵

A vital question from @clairehanna.bsky.social as the process of securing a Political Declaration on the ECHR's application in immigration contexts gathers speed. But what an answer. The current UK Govt is fine with hollowing out rights, as long as it can tell itself it's "modernising" protections:
Today, we are proud to launch the Irish Network of Legal Observers first annual report! 📣
This work would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteer legal observers and the commitment from ICCL staff and @illanwall.bsky.social to organise the trainings.
The Irish Network of Legal Observers observed 70 protests in 2025. Its first annual report identifies three emerging issues:
1️⃣ Poor Garda awareness of relevant human rights standards
2️⃣ Gardaí misusing Section 8 of the Public Order Act
3️⃣ Gardaí not wearing badge numbers
