Organizations that provide counseling services for troops are reporting growing numbers of calls. “It’s all people who don’t want to take part in killing in a war that they don’t believe in, and this war has made them realize that they can’t take part in any kind of U.S. military action ever again.”
Over the summer of 2025, four CUNY adjuncts were fired from Brooklyn College as a result of their activism for Palestine: a serious attack on the Palestine movement, academic freedom, and worker rights. But CUNY students and workers did not let the attacks stand.

I'm a journalist and lifelong resident of the town this piece is about. I'm also an anti-Zionist Jew. There's good stuff in this article, but it leaves out so much of the harassment, doxxing, and threats of violence that SOMA's pro-Palestine community has faced.
