It's somehow very telling that the English language doesn't have an expression that fully translate the French expression "politique volontariste (de l'État)".
It reflects how much policy-making in the anglosphere, especially in urban planning matters, is reactive rather than proactive.

We have an exciting new result from LHCb about to be published in PRL - my colleague Mark Smith and I took a deep look at it in The Conversation. theconversation.com/our-large-ha...
'How impressive! Yesterday, the longest car-free bridge in the world – and the longest bridge in Finland – was opened in Helsinki, ahead of schedule. Spanning 1.2 km, the Kruunuvuorensilta connects the city centre with the outskirts and is open only to pedestrians, cyclists and trams'.
Exactly
That's a bit why i suspect they won't extend. Would hazard a guess his targets were nothing to do with europe and everything to do with developing the talent
Think the contract extension talk is coming from him tbh.
Honestly think dem yanks will can him in summer
4 out of 41 derbies won by Moyes.
The only Glaswegian in the world who doesn't know the importance of derbies.
🇺🇦 We need to create our own anti-ballistic system within a year so as not to depend on the Patriot. It is difficult, but possible, - Zelensky.
I've been to the US a few times recently. On each occasion I sat next to someone involved in deglobalising supply chains. The cost of repatriating industrial capacity is already being felt by consumers.
About time, govt reinvested in defence industrial capacity.

Does he take a cut?
A good egg, i reckon
Low fuel prices are economically harmful overall; per capita economic productivity tends to increase with fuel prices, as illustrated here, because more expensive fuel increases transportation system efficiency. “The Mobility-Productivity Paradox” (www.vtpi.org/ITED_paradox.pdf). These issues are discussed in my report, “Appropriate Response to Rising Fuel Prices” “Appropriate Response to Rising Fuel Prices” (www.vtpi.org/fuelprice.pdf), Professor David Levinson’s recent blog, “Transport Solutions to the Energy Crisis” (https://transportist.org/2026/03/30/transport-solutions-to-the-energy-crisis) and a report I co-wrote for the New Zealand Transportation Agency a few years ago, “Managing Transport Challenges When Oil Prices Rise (www.nzta.govt.nz/assets/resources/research/reports/357/docs/357.pdf).
My report Roadway Costs, User Revenues and Cost Recovery Trends (https://vtpi.org/rcrt.pdf) shows that road user fees pay a declining portion of roadway expenses so more than half of these costs are subsidized by non-users, and my report, “The Mobility-Productivity Paradox” (www.vtpi.org/ITED_paradox.pdf) show that low fuel prices are economically harmful overall; per capita economic productivity tends to increase with fuel prices, as illustrated below, because more expensive fuel increases transportation system efficiency as discussed in my recent column, “The Future Belongs to the Efficient” (www.planetizen.com/blogs/136966-dear-trump-future-belongs-efficient).
Cheap fuel is economically harmful; productivity increases with fuel prices, illustrated here, because expensive fuel increases transport system efficiency. “Mobility-Productivity Paradox” (www.vtpi.org/ITED_paradox.pdf) and “Appropriate Response to Rising Fuel Prices” (www.vtpi.org/fuelprice.pdf).
I'd make it a dream come true
The chesser swelter dome?
Kemi Badenoch! Roger Scruton! MattGPT! Bari Weiss! Rod Dreher! Jair Bolsanaro! Howard from the Halifax adverts! JD Vance? You hear me JD Vance? Your boy took a hell of a beating! Your boy took a hell of a beating!
Orban concedes defeat. The support of Trump, Vance, Putin, Lavrov, Weidel, Milei, Le Pen, Fico, Babis and many others could not overcome Hungarian anger at a stagnant, corrupt regime

A great moment to be in Budapest…
Me at a gent footy match
I went the first weekend in August and managed to get a match! Other than that, it's just a decent place to mooch about, not doing very much.
I stayed in this ibis, smashing location. If the football season has started can recommend a match, nice cycle out to the stadium: maps.app.goo.gl/SrALtGAbahsR...
Mini Switzerland is a source of pride because we’ve been able, through this project, to role-model a different way of working.
This post is about how we’ve worked as a volunteer team and what lessons this can offer for the wider public transport sector.

I’m in Budapest again, as so often since 1979, for today’s globally crucial election - potentially the most significant political event here since 1989, and certainly since @viktororban.bsky.social
started dismantling liberal democracy in 2010.
I’ll be writing about it early next week.
