Fair play! There is still so much around us to treasure and protect. And little moments to treasure…..

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?

Simon as usual has highlighted some of the serious failures of the ff/fg coalition. David McWilliams added to the collection yesterday. Bullshit can achieve nothing, Competence can. Seems the serious issues lie within our “permanent government “ with very little public accountability

Unfortunately having to agree, capitalism without reins and some limits is disastrous. Paradox will however be inevitable. If the bulk of people have no spending power …….

While I was hopeful, I hadn’t expected it. Sounds like higher turnout made a lot of difference. Sense that our participation levels could yield a much more representative result

Agreed, not ageism, simply no competence

We cannot risk the world nor the wellbeing of our nation any longer,” she wrote. “Whether by his Cabinet or Congress, the President must be removed from office. We are playing with the brink.”

Please refrain from ageism. I know plenty of 80 plus capable folk, but also more 50 minus who are not.

Apparently, on average the Daily sits just 3 days per week, or 33 of 52 weeks. In view of the fact that our world operates 52 weeks of the year, my suggestion is that 60% of TD’s, and government representatives must be in action every week of the year.

100%, It’s also a big wake up to the need for the state to strategically support a big move away from dependency on food imports, & to really accelerate home insulation, solar, etc. to enable all irrespective of income to be included.

If you are holding a protest and the racists show up to join in and you do not immediately and loudly tell them to fuck off you're no longer at a protest, you're at a racist rally.

From where I am, it is totally tragic to see almost every thing that was doing good in America being defunded, especially when it is totally clear that Earth has a serious problem

You may be right, but, there’s something that feels to me to be “not right “ about this week’s events

On a much lighter note, especially given that this evening’s weather is very unpleasant… and likely to destroy the tulips …

The reality seems to be that events with the potential to seriously impact our people can happen anytime, and it seems that we would be much better served by having our democracy in place

🧵 I’m a qualified scientific conservationist & have been thinking how do small states react to Climate Change & the Oil crisis. I’m often struck by how policy makers & politicos never think >pragmatically<. That’s how I was brought up, so some suggestions [1]

To reduce disease, we all need to make some urgent but simple changes to how we feed our garden birds.

As inflation is with us, and looking likely to rise, it seems to me that there should be room for VAT revenue to be held by cutting the rates as prices rise. Apart from helping to dampen inflation, it addresses the increase to government revenue without any democratic budgetary process

Folklore geek here: if the Home Secretary thinks fairy tales were comforting, she has not read many fairy tales. Pre-Disneyification, they were usually *not* comforting.

And as for law, rather than lore: this is the Home Secretary's usual hogwash.
