It bears repeating that historically, the #1 thing that keeps people alive in hard times and disasters is “the ability to play well with others”

A couple points on this manifesto, apart from the racial superiority subtext others noted.

Palantir is a company built on public contracts, they bill the state billions to surveil and target the state's population. The manifesto exists to justify their demand for even more.

The day Trump won the election every DNC office in the country should have started moving to this. As Trump destroyed lives across entire country, the DNC should have been democratizing aid and doing something for people instead of taking their money to pay for lawyers

Agreed, I’m in Jackson Co (a sometimes blue county in a sea of red) and folks will call Carbondale “little Chicago” as a racist way to refer the assumed high crime rate. It’s wild. Also agree that these feelings are true in rural IL south of Chicago.

Same for Southern Illinois. People who travel no further than the county over are almost fearful of Chicago and believe the Chicago elites steal all our taxes. It’s so myopic. And definitely racist.

Nearly six years reporting on working homeless families taught me one thing: the precarity isn't incidental to the profits. It's how you get them.

Kimberly-Clark could pay a living wage and still clear almost $2 billion a year. They can afford to pay workers enough to live. They just choose not to.

Americans suffer from a desperate need to believe in the inherent goodness of the American electorate--the idea that a voter in 2024--after nearly a decade of unfiltered, widely broadcast, deeply fascist rhetoric from Donald Trump--was simply "tricked" by a Facebook algorithm or a Fox News segment.

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.

call for an investigation into the president's fitness. call for the house to impeach. say you will obstruct every last bit of senate business. call for soldiers to disregard illegal orders. say you will prosecute the people who do this. say you will take their military pensions and benefits.

If billionaires exist, if wealth hoarders exist, it is categorical proof the resources exist to solve our problems. We just need to redistribute those resources.

I swear to god you guys I’m not doing sponcon here but every time someone messages me that they switched from TurboTax to @freetaxusa.bsky.social because they saw me hyping it up I feel SO ALIVE

the cheaper version is both the better AND the less evil version, we just get that so rarely in life

This is largely by design. If we stop thinking about AI as simply technology and instead as part of a political and economic program, its chief function become easier to see: namely to erode interpersonal trust so that ultimately we give up on forms of agreement & negotiation arbitrated by people.

A staggering new finding from Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies: since 2001, the money left over each month for lower-income renters—after paying rent and utilities—has fallen 60 percent to a record low of $210.

$210 left over for food, healthcare, childcare, and everything else.
