I can't... I can't explain what it's like to be a woman in this country anymore. They don't care if we die. They don't care if we die. They don't care if we die.

Fuck every performative asshole who pretends that the 2024 election is abstract and/or that both parties are the same.

It will have very real, direct, and immediate consequences for us and the people we love.

A lot of the obituaries will be whitewashes or 'gentlemanly' in their delicacy.

Spencer Ackerman doesn't waste your time like that. Read this one:

Awesome announcement time! I'm the new horror columnist for the New York Times. It's a dream come true. Can't wait to bring you all the horror goodness starting in January. Long live horror.

Before you say something mean about Henry Kissinger, take a breath and see if you can think of something meaner

Heh, I bet Elon thought “At least I’ll be the top of the news cycle tonight.”

As Magpies and Magicks is the final book of its trilogy, I was consumed with tying up loose ends and giving everyone a suitable ending. Mysterious foreshadowing is fun and easy to write until you need to make good on it all!

I struggled with the actual ending a fair bit, too.

haha. Well, the "pl" part is when I get ideas for stuff that happens down the line. I write the scene like ten chapters later and then work them together. Salmonweird (my low fantasy) in each case I've written the last chapter shortly after the first few.

I have lists of notes of stuff to work in

Mycophilia is a bleak horror short about a lonely impoverished trans man who becomes obsessed with his upstairs neighbour. It goes very strange from there.

I’ve always imagined my muse as a kind of a miniature boyish Audrey Tautou with the dress sense of Luna Lovegood – bright, colourful, quirky with some odd fashion choices. She dresses that loudly even when giving me the most brutal horror ideas.

The Sandman issue #1, ‘Sleep of the Just,’ was released 35 years ago today! Sandman comics are dear to me. Thank you Neil Gaiman.

Oh man. This is a good one! They would look world-weary and sad and beautiful. And being around them would be uncomfortable and silent and force you to reflect on yourself. You would want to run from them, but you can’t bring yourself to do it.

I remember the pain of having to wait a whole month for a new issue of The Sandman. This will be a much longer wait, but it's very exciting!

Charlie Evans smiles. I love seeing his cheeks crinkle as his soft lips lifts his face, how his green eyes twinkle with love and laughter above the light freckles poking across his skin.

But something is off. His smile is wavering and there's blood dripping from his fingers... #HorrorWritersChat

I just had one of life's most exquisitely sad experiences: Listening to archived sweet voicemails from my mother, who can no longer speak coherently and is in the final stages of hospice. #dementia

Do you need a picture of a Golden Retriever basking in a sunbeam looking like he’s got your next quest? Of course you do.

He is a very good boy.

The sound of connecting to dial-up internet just emanated from a distant corner of the coworking space.

All the millennials popped their heads up from their computers like a flock of prairie dogs being activated by a long-forgotten ancestral call.

whenever i am not sure of what someone thinks or i want to clarify that someone thinks something, i ask them a question. “what do you believe about [blank]?” i am genuinely surprised at how few people seem to take that approach on social media.
