They were right to protest, and right on the issue, but instead of being told "hey you were right we should have listened on the level of policy - but we need your votes now and we're aligned on this." They're being told "hey you suck and are dumb." By people who were provably wrong on the merits!
I think this is a bad faith argument for two reasons. 1. Harris didn't say she'd do that and in fact gave all indication to the opposite (without ever really engaging the protest) 2. The protestors were RIGHT on the issue and if people can't concede that then this argument is gibberish.

I think this is largely true, but I ALSO think the need for democrats to excite and motivate their base with stuff that makes them vote is critical when they're defending an incumbency. Having to look at the trump admin with GOTV but when there's a dem president they have to make the case to stick.
