The US has and is nowhere near one of the best democracy in the world. It never has been as free ir democratic as many other nations in the world. Better than many yes but compared to many other democracies - no. It’s a myth

The system in the US is broken. The political system and Supreme Court. Walking on pointless marches and impeaching the president won’t change anything. You need a 2/3 majority to actually carry it through.

Yes a two party state is not real democracy. It’s a sham where both pasture are funded by the same billionaires. Also the Supreme court system is an absolute joke as is powerless senate and house- both of which are just full of bought politicians on both sides of the aisle
When people worldwide think of the American dream that’s what they think of that time period. Granted it was far from perfect socially with social racial and sex divisions but economically one person could go out to work and Ind stay home with a good standard of living.Why? High taxes on the wealthy
The Democrats have barely raised taxes since Reagan staged the top range from 80% to 20%. Democrats raised them back up to 35% for a short period. A drop in the ocean.
Do you know what the top rate of tax was in the mid 1950s to early 1960s in the US? 91%.
You get the leaders you deserve. Even before Trump got in millions of Americans had no health care. The upper and middle classes were more than happy to have taxes cut without thinking about others less fortunate. It didn’t happen overnight. As Obama rightly said - ‘you get the leaders you deserve’

It also lowers the cost of basic goods in your society in real terms as wages also rise. Wages rise with higher taxes and the cost of living reduces. High taxation is best for a society but worse only for the mega wealthy. Americans have been sold the lie with their own greed of low taxation
I’m not advocating for both. You dint seem to understand what I’m saying or how equity in an economy works. Everyone should be paying Higher taxes and the rich should be taxed even higher if they earn over a certain amount. This means more public expenditure and facilities for all.
Scandinavians pay very high taxes. They understand it’s a necessity for a fair and egalitarian happy healthy educated society.
