Ludicrous to imagine working on your birthday specifically honestly. Here I actually have taken my birthday week off multiple years, because it's the first half of December where kids are still in school, and everyone with kids wants the latter half off
Also to be completely honest I'm EXCEEDINGLY fond of my birthday as date and as a concept but I think I haven't had a birthday party since I moved 6 years ago
I don't take my birthday off work because it's not a take one single day off industry -- coverage is very important and it's hard to get cover for only one day -- but I don't think it's silly if you can do it
