The trolley problem graphic where one side is several people tied to the train tracks except the other side has no one on the tracks. A man is standing holding a lever trying to decide which track the trolley should take. The text reads “You can pull the lever, but to do so you must wear a mask at the grocery store.”

The outer space beings are my brothers. They sent me here.
They already know my music.

I'm concerned by reports of our immigrant neighbors receiving emails from the Trump Admin demanding they leave the U.S.
Many are getting these messages by mistake, including U.S. citizens.
Remember you have the right to speak to a lawyer if you have questions about your status.
Democrats are hoping Trump will discredit himself with a recession, while the Left sometimes fantasizes about crisis destabilizing capitalism itself.
But economic crises cause massive human suffering and have recently redounded more to the Right than the Left.

The EU’s shift into a military union under Ursula von der Leyen marks a dangerous turning point.
As Europe faces recession, rising fascism and a shifting global order, Brussels chooses guns over bread—slashing social spending to feed the war machine.

not by any stretch the first person to say this but: it is darkly funny how nakedly imperialist Trump turned out to be given the lengths to which some professional opinion havers went to take his "isolationism" intellectually seriously

"Why don’t we stop treating it as entirely normal that the more obviously one’s work benefits others, the less one is likely to be paid for it; or insisting that financial markets are the best way to direct long-term investment even as they are propelling us to destroy most life on Earth? . Why not instead, once the current emergency is declared over, actually remember what we’ve learned: that if “the economy” means anything, it is the way we provide each other with what we need to be alive, that what we call “the market” is largely just a way of tabulating the aggregate desires of rich people, most of whom are at least slightly pathological, and the most powerful of whom were already completing the designs for the bunkers they plan to escape to."
During the height of the pandemic, David Graeber wrote: After the Pandemic, We Can’t Go Back to Sleep.

Reminder: we are being trained not to care about other people. It underlines the attacks on migrants, on DEI, on trans youth, on so-called "wokeness."
Sure there are legitimate critiques but this is not about critiques. It's about supercharging capitalism's culture of uncare.
On Thursday we have a Zoom to discuss David Graeber's work!
Come along
