Illustration of people looking at balloons and a sign saying 450,000 children lifted out of poverty.

Today is a good day for children!

450,000 will be lifted out of poverty thanks to the end of the two-child limit.

We're celebrating this along with 17 other orgs with an advert in The Times.

The advert has been funded by hundreds of small donations from people supporting @38degrees.bsky.social.

Last Summer we spoke to parents/carers about hobbies. We heard how their children can be excluded or discouraged from participating in hobbies due to lacking ASN support and venue limitations.

Manifesto for Babies in Scotland The challenge we face - more than one in ten babies in the UK today are living in fear, confusion and distress. That’s more than 9,000 babies in Scotland.

We're proud to be a member of the coalition of charities launching its #ManifestoForBabiesInScotland. We urge all candidates standing in the upcoming Holyrood election to consider how their policies support babies.

There is an image of a young girl on a bouldering wall. Underneath it says 'national hobby model'

We are calling for a mapping of existing funding for hobbies in Scotland and a commitment to use money strategically to invest in areas where uptake is lower. The next government should work with children and young people, parents and carers to develop a model that encourages all to get involved.

Our final manifesto call is for investment into a national hobby framework so that every child and young person can take part in a hobby of their choice.

We know the benefits that hobbies have on our lives, but often, parents, carers, children and young people face barriers to accessing them.

We need investment in research to gain a better understanding of the experiences, needs and circumstances of those parenting adult aged children, and new policy developed to address unmet needs and provide adequate support.

Our fifth call is for 'parenting with adults' to be given its own emphasis within national policy, recognising that parenting doesn't stop when children turn 18.

There are many circumstances in which parents/carers need to parent after 18 years, either short term or for lifelong issues.

We call on parties to commit to long term sustainable funding so that universal and intensive family support can be effectively rolled out across Scotland. By doing so, families will have access to non-stigmatising, accessible and sustainable support to assist them in their parenting journeys.

There are many valuable whole family support services in the third sector. Much can also be learned from international models such as Open Kindergartens, which Parenting Across Scotland has been piloting in Scotland alongside partners, thanks for the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund.

Our fourth manifesto call is to deliver universal and intensive whole family support to all that need it, incorporating Open Kindergartens as an effective means of universal provision.

Too many feel they don't have adequate help or support in their parenting journey - this must change.

Parties should commit to investing in research about and with Scottish families, co-produce policies and strategies with families, and build strong relationships with organisations supporting families.
By doing so, we can create a Scotland where families are reflected and supported in policy.

Our third manifesto call is putting parents' and carers' views and experiences at the heart of decision making. Their voices must be valued to truly understand the constraints families experience and what can help, acknowledging differing experiences across demographics and communities.

Three arrows point upwards behind the promise heart (made up of four shapes and an outline to represent the five foundations: voice, family, care, people, and scaffolding) suggesting progress to keep the promise. The quote next to the heart reads "We remain committed to keep the promise so by 2030 all children grow up loved, safe, and respected and realise their full potential."

We’re delighted to have 32 organisations join our call for all political parties to commit to keeping the promise through the duration of the next Scottish parliament.
