but knowing about what was going on with Towa and how Taku was involved in it really makes his reactions make a lot more sense. He's already afraid of people close to him getting hurt, but seeing Towa -who he was unable to help before- getting back into a situation like that must have been crushing

I feel like *especially* Taku's route super benefits from knowing what was going on with Towa in his past.
Personally, I wasn't a big fan of Taku's route initially because of how trope-y it felt and the turn he takes as a character which I found to be kind of jarring and hard to understand

The way the story is constructed is surprisingly really tight to the point where I find myself really going in on even small parts and offhand sentences during bookclub because I keep thinking
!!! I need to include this! This will be important later/give more context to character's actions!

Currently replaying Slow Damage for a weekly bookclub with a friend and good god
this game really benefits from a second playthrough.
The amount of things I missed or that just stand out way more to me now that I know what is going on is.
Immense.
