My version of this is that even normal car horns should be as loud inside the cabin as outside. Undoing the literal negative externality.

Year Zero is fantastic, completely idiosyncratic, presages the cerebral score work while still leaning hard in to (post-?)industrial noize
It looks like they launched a bot that you can ask to identify a watchface? And maybe it's slightly over-enthusiastic? bsky.app/profile/repe...
Listen to bizarre radio traffic from Reagan National Airport in which pilots are scolded for making dog and cat noises #DCA
I am a DC Resident, and I pay federal taxes. There is no vote for me in Congress. If you have representation on the hill, tell your members of Congress that you support DC Statehood.
This year, like every year for the last 16, I have paid my tax bill to a government in which I have no representation. This year, it feels far worse than in previous years, because of the things done with that money that zealous representation might have been able to curb or stop.
Statehood for DC
A data table comparing DC agency budgets between FY26 and FY27, with columns for Agency, FY26, FY27 (currently sorted descending), and Change. Three agencies are listed: Department of Health Care Finance (HT0, Human Support Services) — FY26: $5.5B, FY27: $5.3B, Change: ▼−3.1% District of Columbia Public Schools (GA0, Public Education System) — FY26: $1.5B, FY27: $1.5B, Change: ▼−1.4% District of Columbia Public Charter Schools (GC0, Public Education System) - FY26: $1.4B, FY27: $1.4B, Change: ▲+3.8% Each row includes "View" and "Details" buttons, a star icon for favoriting, and a small sparkline chart showing budget trend over time.
Check out dcbudget.com! (surprisingly this domain was still available). Contains every agency & line item - searchable and sortable. No need to download dozens of PDFs
A dark navy blue header banner for a DC FY2027 Budget website. The title "DC FY2027 Budget" appears in large, bold yellow-green text. Below it, a subheading reads "Proposed Budget and Financial Plan" in white bold text, followed by a description: "An interactive explorer of Washington DC's proposed $12.7 billion general funds budget for Fiscal Year 2027. Data sourced from the DC CFO and Mayor's budget submission." At the bottom, smaller gray text notes it is an "Independent explorer built by Josh Jacobson" with hyperlinks to Bluesky and Twitter, and a disclaimer that it is "Not affiliated with the DC government."
The Mayor's proposed FY2027 budget is public ... as a stack of PDFs most people don't want to search through, cross-reference, or analyze. This annoyed me last year, so this year I prepped something that is easier to go through.
A major traumatic and disabling event that they want to act like never happened even though policing got worse directly as a result of that time, prices got worse directly as a result of that time, and we have our own Mengele who wants no vaccines and only the strong to survive, cuz of that time.
Post Trump's Truth Social walls-of-text saying "this is not who we are" or "brain totally cooked" all you want, I will *never* read them.
The singular goal of all future US politics is to ensure Trumpism is defeated and cannot again take root here, and everything that serves that end is to be considered and prioritized. It's a holistic organizing principle, from a Green New Deal to Nuremberg 2 to expanding the court to Reconstruction.
Correct. And if we have a big constituent assembly to propose amendments to the constitution, it should take place in Philly and be called the Continental Congress. Really lean into it. DC is where the government goes when we’re in the new normal.
If the Iranians really want to fuck with us they should offer to open the straights in return for Trump’s resignation.
I am here for messaging that the THREAT alone - regardless of if it's carried out or walked back - should end his presidency.
The die is already cast. You cannot wield the power that man has and say that kind of shit.
call for an investigation into the president's fitness. call for the house to impeach. say you will obstruct every last bit of senate business. call for soldiers to disregard illegal orders. say you will prosecute the people who do this. say you will take their military pensions and benefits.
Don't wait to do the right thing. Just do it.
days like today i get incandescent with rage all over again that he wasn't in cuffs and an orange jumpsuit and perp walked on jan 21st, 2021
you have to get him out of office and you have to do it today
even if it gets blocked you force an impeachment vote right now
how else can you live with yourself if he follows through with this and you didn’t do everything you could to stop it
It’s called the Cycle of Abuse or the Walker Wheel: calm followed by rising tension, the explosion of violence, the reconciliation, the incremental intensification of violence over time.
Nuremberg was an important symbol of German nationhood so I say with 100% sincerity that this is a job for Philadelphia
Sadness always comes home
fuck a firefly revival, give me the rest of Glow
Leftism is community-focused, and it’s a shame that too many voters have been steadily indoctrinated by conservative propaganda to think these are all bad things to spend resources on. They’d rather be miserable and complain than elect people to actually do something.
this is what happens when you let this much wealth and power concentrate in the hands of so few people
nobody wants any of this but them and they’re the only ones who get a vote
The problem is "nobody" has all the power and all the money, statistically speaking
😭😭😭😭😭
What is Emmanuel Grégoire, the new Paris mayor, planning for the city over his new term in office?
—60,000 new social housing units
—15 express bus routes
—Completion of city's full bike network
—Transformation of ring highway into a boulevard
—1000 new pedestrian streets
—300 new hectares of parks
Oh shit
This is completely unbearable. But also like… why are his insane ramblings never summarized like this in the media? We gotta wait for a substack guy to put it together like this?
Pete Hesgeth said in a room full of people "The problem with Iran is it spends money on weapons and missiles instead of improving life for their people," and not one person laughed at him
