This is good news except that if we start referring to the book as being written by the Mills, the war to persuade students that John Stuart Mill and Charles Mills have different last names will be lost forever.
mill's dedication: this is a jointly authored work
a century & a half of male editors: mill exaggerated out of a sentimental fondness for his wife
mill's letters: no, really, most of "my" work was partly by her, i really could not be clearer on this
Harriet Taylor Mill officially recognised as co-author of 'On Liberty'! dailynous.com/2026/03/19/o...
This is something we engage with in the introduction. There might be good reasons why Mill didn't put her name on the cover in 1859 (she was quite a private person, from what we can tell, for instance), but it doesn't mean we shouldn't recognise her contribution now.
🥰😂🥰
So pleased my copy has finally come and I have physical proof this is out in the world! A labour of love from everyone involved. What a great day!

Generic image of map showing cold spots in SHAPE subject provision in UK higher education.
Indicative map showing example of provider-level data on SHAPE student numbers in UK HE, zoomed in on Midlands/South East of England.
Our new maps launch today - now, crucially, with subject data from individual UK universities. This adds a new dimension to our cold spots mapping what students can study and where. The maps show a complex regional picture - let's get into it ⤵️ (1)

Lovely to see this article published today: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10..... Very happy memories of a lovely trip to Canada for the workshop of which this is one output. (Others here: economicpluralism.com?page_id=29).
Breaks my heart that such an awesome writer/thinker/researcher as you has imposter syndrome!
It's bad enough when it's anonymous, but "I know McCabe is a very junior scholar ... But for Christ's sake, she's not even read Packe" remains a "favourite" of mine from reviewers.
I saw yet another post on Twitter today from a grad student who received a peer review rife with ad hominem attacks on the authors' competencies rather than constructively critiquing the work.
I've written about this kind of nonsense bullshit in peer review before: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
A perspective view of Fourier's Phalanstère
Now in pre-print: Stanisław Knapowski (Adam Mickiewicz University) explores the phalanstère of Charles Fourier (1772-1837) as a tool for transferring ideas & the operation of buildings, their blueprints & illustrations, as non-verbal speech acts in early socialism www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
