Liman hasn't had a theatrical hit since 2017, Casey Affleck has no box office draw, and Gadot is box office / PR poison at this point. So what will probably happen is this movie will bomb, the industry will blame it on Gen AI, and no one in Hollywood will tout the tech ever again.

I love the AI ban. #SecondLife is great because of the PEOPLE making things, not because of AI slop.

Earth and Moon from DSCOVR NASA's Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite captured this unique view of the Moon as it moved in front of the sunlit side of Earth last month. This view shows the fully illuminated “dark side” of the moon that is never visible from Earth. Ian Regan processed this version of the image to account for the Moon's motion. NASA / NOAA / Ian Regan
I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable.

I have no trouble whatsoever believing that Trump obsessively reads the chroma key headline crawl on FOX and Newsmax more than anyone in his administration. Indeed, more than anyone in the world.

Yes, Adeon's not fooling: Rec Room tragically seems to be the first UGC virtual world to go under in significant part due to the hype over prompt-based generative AI. 👇

Might be the greatest opening paragraph of anything ever.
That "demanded" is so grating. "Dune" was huge but no one credits that to Chalamet. While no one disputes Michael B being a big part of "Black Panther" and "Sinners" success.
Holy shit we might have a cure for sickle cell anemia

It's not just about bad business strategy. Metaverse platforms offer unique advantages to underrepresented people. Meta squandered that.

“They glommed onto the term ‘metaverse’ without really understanding the concept,” Wagner James Au, author of “Making a Metaverse That Matters,” said in an interview. “Their efforts on their metaverse strategy seemed completely indifferent to what previous platforms had learned.”
Exactly right from @slhamlet.bsky.social: This is so much the heart of it -- willful ignorance about history, previous experience, prior art. It's always year zero in the Valley. Too often, a giant cycle of ignorance. From www.nytimes.com/2026/03/19/t...
And most of the tech press/industry wasn't interested in a positive but nuanced-from-hard-experience take on the Metaverse. Someone at the CBC asked me how big the market for it is and I said "maybe 1 in 4 Internet users". She seemed crestfallen I didn't say "EVERYONE".

😂
One of many key lessons Meta ignored with its metaverse strategy I told Mike about for his NYT story:
VR headsets should NOT be a central prerequisite for metaverse platforms.
danah boyd warned Meta that HMDs have a gender bias, but as I learned for my book, Zuck et. al. didn't even look into it!
No, you were actively mocked for claiming the Metaverse was inspired by the '82 movie "Tron".
As I told @mikeisaac.bsky.social, Zuckerberg et. al. didn't understand the concept or how it's been been applied in multiple platforms (many successful).
No point sending a straw man to beat another one!

Cool news I just learned at @lindenlab.bsky.social: They hired a new SVP of Engineering to grow @secondlife.bsky.social.
Jerome Despret held similar roles at Riot Games (League of Legends), Zynga (FarmVille) and EA, where he led engineering of Sims 4.
That's not the only major hire they're making:
