I enjoyed The Strokes performance at Coachella, including Julian Casablancas' interaction with the crowd. I also admire them for the political montage displayed during the final song.

It's about the warm decor, friendly bar staff, live music, events, jukebox, food, games, garden etc.

A public house is the heart of the local community. I have seen so many fail simply because of bad management, as they were run by petty tyrants who did not understand their regulars and their needs. A great pub has cheap and varied drinks but also character, with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Local council elections in May. As I have said in an earlier post, the UK is a cartel democracy. The Greens have slightly better policies than the other parties but the difference is minimal, so the ballot paper just lets you choose your favourite colour. I will return a spoilt ballot.

Thank you for your pedantic comment. Hawaii is an American state, so it's politically in North America. And the footage could so easily have been extended to include the final years of his life...

She was also ignored in the Elvis biopic from 2022. I should add that I find it strange that both films were made in Australia. Elvis is an American icon, so the USA should definitely have been the filming and post-production location.

Epic: Elvis Presley Live In Concert is a worthy documentary film. It's surprising that, despite being so prolific as a live performer, he never toured outside of North America. Less surprising is the omission of Linda Thompson, because Priscilla is the executor of his estate, lol.

I believe that the EU should be reformed into (or supplanted by) a democratic socialist union that every nation in Europe is a member of.

I don't think he was. In fact, Tito was a great pragmatic leader who used a myth of common ancestry to bring peace and prosperity to the Balkans. He also granted freedoms to people, culture and science that were unheard of in the Soviet Union. His state funeral was one of the largest in history.

I like Coachella but it should be confined to a single weekend. You can have too much of a good thing, lol.

I have heard many people, including those from the Balkans, say that he had his good points, with a more relaxed approach to communism that was dissimilar to the Soviet Union, GDR, Albania and other Warsaw Pact nations. Also that he ensured the unity of the former Yugoslavia for many decades.

These are all too strong for me, except Che Guevara. I would choose Clement Attlee, Aneurin Bevan, John Maynard Keynes and Robert Owen to get anything done, with Nikita Khrushchev being the most tolerable leader of the Soviet Union. Tito had his merits. George Orwell was a benign influence.

All our oil and natural gas should be derived from the North Sea. Furthermore, as China is proving, the phased transition away from fossil fuels can be expedited.

The UK energy industry should be entirely domestic, self-sufficient and not dependent on imports at all. Our renewable energy supply should be abundant and ubiquitous; we could also have clean and safe nuclear energy. In contrast, fossil fuels should be relegated to a niche, specialised industry.

I have been drinking fresh coffee for the first time in about twenty years. I am fairly intolerant to caffeine but I decided to give it another chance. I should add that I don't see the point of decaffeinated, lol.

This is a simplistic and immature comment. The answer is to effect peaceful, democratic change by winning the support of the wider public with the best ideas and influence. The real battleground is that of discourse. Sun Tzu โ€“ 'the supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting'.

The United Kingdom is a country, not an 'economy'. We're Britons, not 'Brits'. We're citizens, not 'consumers'. And we care about our communities, not 'businesses'.

We need a new international governing body to return the game to the people. However, I still believe that we should retain the men's world cup as a smaller tournament (with only eight teams) simply to determine who the best team in the world is.

It's often said that FIFA is now a cesspool of corruption and a joke organisation. I hope that everyone will boycott the men's world cup this summer and watch the women's game instead.

Space exploration is the pinnacle of human achievement, and the benefits for science and engineering are immeasurable. The budget required is a small fraction of the global economy โ€“ less than 1% of the world's GDP. I also hope that Artemis is successful, but it's China that will reach Mars first.

I would choose Mark Goodier to be the next host of the Radio 2 breakfast show.

I should add that I was born in Croydon, south London. Also that I could extend my criticism to all the major cities like Manchester, Bristol and others. As for Kettering, it's situated about 70 miles north of London and I worry about it a lot, but at least it's liveable here.
