UPDATE: the macedonian calendar also used an intercalary month (xanthikos and xanthikos embolimos) which was analogous to the month nisan so instead of adar 1&2 they had nisan 1&2 also their new year was in the fall instead of the spring, what a bunch of goofy goobers

writing #historicalfiction is the best

in 73 CE (a leap year) would the macedonian calendar shift to stay aligned with the hebrew calendar or would it stay unchanged meaning the months are out of whack for the majority of my story

WHAT DO YOU MEAN no one but me cares about this

Had a long conversation with my kid about how Avatar Korra did not commit avatar malpractice, but Avatar Aang definitely did, specifically against Firelord Ozai, who could absolutely take Aang to court over the damages he caused.

Plus, synopses aren’t for readers. They’re for the people who need to know the spoilers, because they’re helping you refine the story! Editors, agents, critique partners, long-suffering writer friends who are tired of hearing you complain about POVs and timelines—

Ahem. People like that!

It’s “license” for me. If I spell it correctly it was entirely by accident.

I used to work in a neurotrauma ICU. Sometimes fentanyl was the only thing that would touch my patient’s pain when, you know, their spine was in pieces. It’s a dangerous drug in the wrong hands but it was a godsend when we needed it.

i’m sitting in my kid’s choir concert on the verge of tears because humanity is so dang cool and weird and we do monumentally complex things all in pursuit of cultivating something pretty and we do it from the earliest ages too and i think that’s neat

The image consists of a side-by-side comparison of two portraits labeled "January 1st" on the left and "January 56th" on the right. The left portrait shows a person wearing a luxurious coat with a fluffy brown fur collar and a zebra-like pattern. They are holding a colorful drink with a straw. The right portrait depicts a person in an office setting wearing a brown suit and tie, with a tired expression.

In my 2nd book, ANYA & THE NIGHTINGALE, Anya’s babulya tells her to pray with her feet. It means that, when bad things happen, you should pray for divine assistance, but you should do that praying while you’re walking to DO SOMETHING (in Anya’s case, face-kicking).

Let’s please pray with our feet.

A poem called Mnemonic by Brian Bilston: Thirty days has September, April, June and November. Unless a leap year is its fate, February has twenty-eight. All the rest have three days more, excepting January, which has six thousand, one hundred and eighty-four.

I just reposted instructions on how to do this on a Mac! Essentially: open Word, expand “Microsoft Word” menu > Preferences > Personal Settings > Privacy > uncheck the (one single) box. Save. Restart. All done.

Writers-

If you are using Microsoft Word 365 and now have “CoPilot” showing up in your toolbar—that is AI.

My tech friend sent me the steps to turn off CoPilot on a Mac.

I would like my future audiobook narrator to know that I’m thinking about your comfort and sanity as I choose historically accurate Roman names for my characters. I named this kid Tettienus. I could have named him Pupienus. You’re welcome.

I used to work at 3 different clinics. I resigned from one and had my last day yesterday. When people were saying goodbye, 3 of them separately asked me if I was going to be a lawyer instead.

No I am not. But apparently I have mental health lawyer energy. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Authors of #mgbooks and #yabooks here’s some insight into the humor of a 14yo:

When people ask my kid what I do for a living, she tells them I’m a drug dealer.

She neglects to specify that the drugs are prescribed for mental health reasons.

She thinks this is the peak of comedy. #parenting

I’m on my 8th playthrough of #BG3. I’m no longer playing for the story. I’m ✨collecting ✨. I have 594 individual books catalogued. The new collection is the wines of Faerûn. Next? Fancy hats. Paintings. Spontaneous dialogue between companions.

Yes, there is a spreadsheet.

I also hope to return to Anya one day!! I’m so happy you and your kids enjoy her world. 🤗 The SFF is uhh a little more intense than Anya’s stories lol, but I’m having fun with it!

Jumping between:
- an adult SFF word-count monstrosity (apologies in advance to my agent)
- a MG magic Roman chickens extravaganza (which does NOT have any suicide in it iykyk)
- an academic evidence-based paper about how #BG3 can be used to teach MH students how to diagnose PDs

The usual.
