good-ass stuff, Dan

you can SEE him trying to decide if it was close enough to get away with making the call he wants vs the call he knows is correct
NIU should be allowed to steal this ump's car, throw a basket of dead trout into the back seat, let it sit in a Wal-Mart parking lot for a week, and send him anonymous note letting him know where to pick it up

would have spent several hours in the backyard getting his windup down if Gene Garber hadn't already earned the honor
oh no argument there, would accept that whatever the current series odds say are the Hawks' chances are, in fact, the Hawks' chances
I'm just exaggerating for the effect of "I'm not feeling good about them actually pulling this off yet"
JJ can obviously be muuuuuuch better but always going to be fairly tough sledding against Hart/OG, not his best matchup
Think it's just as important to get NAW some easier looks. Would like to maybe run more O through Okongwu, only 3 assists through 2 games, need the ball to move more IMHO
and part of me wonders if I should be more optimistic. Last night
JJ was a train wreck for 3 quarters
they went 1-of-12 from 3 for a half
they got squashed on the glass
NAW took 12 shots to score 9 points
and they won anyway. NYK's FT shooting had something to do w/ that, but: they won anyway
having 2 perimeter defenders *this* good to throw at Brunson is the best part of the matchup from the Hawk perspective
don't think it outweighs the ATL rebounding disadvantage or NYK likewise having both Hart and Anunoby to throw at Johnson
but it's something
the reason Brunson got so consistently smoked on D is that he's having to expend every ounce of his energy to score/create against Dyson, NAW and a superbly-hedging Okongwu, and even that hasn't been enough to score/create *efficiently*
Still doubt Hawks' chances to win this series are much > ~10% --"save us with iso jumpers and floaters, CJ McCollum!" is not a sustainable plan on O, even if Brunson's guarding him--but
1. last night was awesome
2. as long as Dyson and NAW force Brunson to work this hard, there *is* that chance
reviewing this photo and description and must ask you to encourage a southward expansion, please and thanks Bill
Had a rose-breasted grosbeak at ours Thursday
Just live here all the time guys! It's so nice! Promise!
Donnarumma could have just picked that up, right? Backpass rule doesn't apply to a throw-in, right?
Think that's an even worse error than it's being given credit for
That streaming or just radio? Wasn't sure if there was still some iFollow equivalent in National League
Oh man. What's the US TV situation?
oh *hell* yes
Couldn't watch Hawks-Knicks live. Avoided spoilers, just got home, fired up Prime, hit the "watch from beginning" button
stream immediately jumped to the postgame show with the final score on the screen
thanks guys, great stuff
Agree on all counts
"our biggest weakness right now is physical bigs who attack the offensive glass ... and yes, we're fine playing the Knicks" just seems like an odd conclusion to reach
Would 100% expect *part* of their calculus was that ORL could do them a solid. But think ultimately if they had a meaningful preference between NYK and CLE they'd have kept matters in their own hands, or tried to
Add in an obvious (IMHO) preference for DET over the Tatum-enhanced C's in the (however unlikely) 2nd round and the weeklong break before G1, and I thought trying for the 5 seed was the clearcut better option
Guess we'll see!
Surprised at the strength of consensus here that it wasn't worth trying to avoid the Knicks when we *just saw* how one of NYK's greatest strengths (MitchRob/offensive rebounding) lines up w/ the Hawks' biggest current weakness (no backup 5 for the matchup/defensive rebounding)
Steph, Kawhi vs Draymond, Horford turning back the clock, legit great atmosphere, Kevin Harlan
wish the NBA would find its more juice more often, but when it does--and it has two nights running--hot damn
It's April 15, 2026, and Steph Curry is *still* doing the Steph Curry thing and it's *still* just the coolest damn thing ever
oh hell yeah
