So proud to have spent last week at the Kennedy Center National Community Partnerships Annual Convening. Pictured here are members of the Northeast Region, all committed to the KC’s mission to work to provide arts learning for ALL students. So thankful to the KC for their support and leadership!

Took this fun time lapse flying into Buffalo today. Saw some rainbows, shadows, visions of life from above.

Decided to re-watch “The Good Place.” As the world kinda feels pretty Bad Place-like right now, Eleanor spoke to my soul: “There are still some people in this world that we care about, so I say we try and help them…why not try? It’s better than not trying, right?”

Already left X, moving out of FB & Insta too now. Gonna try to find my space in the world in the #Bluesky. I don’t wanna promote anything, don’t wanna argue, just want to make my little corner of the world a better place.

Why I’m geeking out today: writing a lesson plan for 4th graders teaching a short aria adapting the story of “The Ugly Duckling” into the melody of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” for kids to then adjust tempo, dynamics and pitch range to match the emotional expression of each verse.

Buffalo Trace is one of my favorites! Smooth, vanilla-caramel-oak flavors.

Just saying, after two days of using this song to drum, it’s lifting the spirits of every holiday-week drained teacher and aide.

Having fun today drumming with students, found this fun song that lets us practice finger dexterity holding up fingers to show numbers and some sign language (please, more) through repetition in song form, and rhythmic patterns! And - it’s a Thanksgiving song!

It’s truly fun being in a school on the day of their annual Thanksgiving celebration on the Monday of their 2-day week. The air is filled with anticipation and chaotic energy. Yeah-not a lot of academics may happen today, but what they learn today about community and gratitude is dang important too.

The “Echoes of Wisdom” game music is absolutely what cozy nostalgia sounds like-woodwind heavy chamber ensemble arrangement of prior Zelda themes and game cues makes me feel like a kid cuddling under a warm blanket on a cold morning.

I’m gonna agree with @jperlow.bsky.social, an old fashioned is the way to go! But, if you want to keep trying it on ice alone, I suggest Buffalo Trace-higher corn to rye ratio makes it a bit sweeter & smoother, vanilla-caramel-oak forward.

Just want to give a shout-out to Chelsea, the phlebotomist who through her kindness and skill kept me from passing out, as I am known to do during routine blood work. Also a testament to the power of vulnerability and clear communication-asking for what you need goes a long way!

His support adults all cheered loudly - I asked, “Was that the first time?” One teary-eyed aide said, “Yeah, that was a big deal.” These kids NEED the arts as a part of their life experience and education. Just honored to get to be a part of this student’s story. #musiceducation

When it was this student’s turn, he slowly said “My name is *name*,” then I got distracted from finishing out our greeting (as often happens in a busy special education classroom). He brought us all right back when he shouted “Hello, *name*!” 2/3

Yesterday, I got to hear a 10-year old say “Hello” for the first time. I lead a drumming program for kids with disabilities, and we play a game called “What’s Your Name,” using drumming to enhance our communication skills and welcome everyone. 1/3

I’ve always wanted to write, but let myself get stuck at the “yeah, but what would I write about” stage - an obstacle fueled by fear & doubt, I suppose. This is a prompt I could run marathons with!

Normalize inconsistency in your art. Normalize not making every art piece super detailed and intricate. Normalize just creating art for the sake of it.

I actually bailed on X as soon as it was taken over by…well, that guy. Tried Threads but still didn’t feel right. #Bluesky gives me hope. Looking forward to making some new friends here!

Post a picture you took (no description) to bring some zen to the timeline (but don’t forget the alt text!)

Hello Bluesky world. I’m here to learn, to hope, to create, to connect, to laugh and lift up others who believe that the light we collectively put into a world that seems so dark makes a difference. Nice to meet you, friends!
