Alex Pretti was a person with inherent dignity. He should be alive. It is our right, as Americans, as patriots, to protest. No system that claims legitimacy can treat the taking of life as routine, incidental, or quickly explained away. (2/3)
Dr. King warned us that power untethered from justice becomes violence. Our history reminds us that institutions often move first to protect themselves, rather than the people caught in their reach. When that happens, the burden quietly shifts to the dead to justify their own loss of life. (1/3)
