Face masks at the ready
This smart dog knows about politics, he literally gives a shit.😆😆
Precisely….
Of the people I’ve met recently who, upon learning I make children’s books, have then suggested I should use A.I. to do it, all of them have turned out to be right wing in their opinions. Marches, flags, roundabouts type right wing. I don’t know if there’s a correlation. But there is.

I get one of these men in my classes every now and then. And let me tell you, the Gen Z ladies in the room be clowning these guys like this and they don't even realize it.
A customer came in asking about a new book which was in last Saturday's Times. The book compares various systems e.g. housing/health/etc in different countries... he couldn't remember the author or title. And nor can I! Any ideas?
2 copies of Jacques And The Great Art Theft sit basking in sun light. they look resplendid in their canary yellow covers.
My beautiful hand holds open a page of the Jacques comic. In this sequence Jacques is descending from rooftops gracefully only to be foiled by a pesky pigeon.
Once again my ageless and delicate fingers hold open a page of the Jacques comic, in which our titular hero is springing through the air in a perfect somersault to catch their errant umbrella
My withered and taloned claw like hand holds open the first 2 pages of the Jacques comic. It's an establishing shot that shows that Jacques lives in Paris, lives in a shabby apartment and is struggling to find his gloves.
I'm working on a new Jacques book of short stories. But in order to do that I need to sell some of the old books so that I can pay my colourist!

Rejection comes with the territory but you brush it off and move on. Occasionally, however, a particular #cartoon not finding a home really pisses you off. This is one of them. #sealife #pollution #aquarium
Just ranted in thread.
I have loads of note pads with stories I could tell about running a bookshop for 2 years.
If I wasn't financially & spiritually destroyed by the affair & struggling to see the humour in it yet, I'd make a book of the many small horrors (Small Horrors is a great title for it)
No, the thing was, he was really nice & felt he was supporting me by coming in.
He couldn't see the logic of his behaviour
*small note.
His scribbles are now appearing everywhere around London.
People are posting online when they spot them.
This guy is getting what he wanted: recognition for his little doodles.
I see one every couple of days.
And each one is a kick in the bollocks while still struggling over my shop.
haha
he was also punishing me.
So, for a few years, this guy & his girlfriend got all the books they wanted by visiting this huge bookshop & stealing them.
To them it was justice.
To them, those being punished was the big bookshop company.
At no point, at zero moment was there a flicker of the thought that...
The shop security were apparently not much better.
Not willing to scroll through footage.
He said their treatment was disgusting. It left them furious.
So furious that they made a decision:
that if this huge bookshop didn't care about stolen items then they shouldn't care about stolen books.
...
His story began when he & his partner once visited a very big & famous bookshop in the West End of London.
At some point while browsing, his girlfriends mobile was stolen in the shop.
They asked the staff for help but the staff said they couldn't do much about it, with so many people in store.
...
On this visit, with visible embarrassment, he confessed to why he never bought any books.
As a poor person, I've relentlessly had to leave shops without buying stuff. I never expected people to spend in Jam. There's plenty of reasons why people might not. I did not judge.
But this reason stung.
...
After a long time of the visits & I started to share that the business was getting too tough because people weren't buying enough books to compete with increasing expenses.
Eventually in the last weeks before the shop was closing, he popped in again.
...
These visits could last for an hour or two. He would really explore the ways in which people can be creative or artists. He was very pleasant to talk to & he seemed to enjoy my rants and advice.
He would hover around the shop.
But...after many, many months he never once bought a single book.
...
He worked for a mental health charity. He also wanted to be an illustrator or cartoonist. He has since gone on to be a London graffiti scribbler that creating a bit of a buzz.
He would come to the shop every few weeks & hang around asking questions on art & asking for advice.
...
Totally random thing but...
Trump blocking the Strait of Hormuz to spite everyone else & the leaders of the rest of the world not appearing to pressure him into stopping has made me think of a real story about idiots & their consequences on others.
At Jam bookshop, there was a regular visitor...
Headline saying Cashier stole from vulnerable customers to fund trips to Paris, Tuscany and Dubai
Only one person looks guilty in this picture & it's the cashier orangutan
For those who missed it: this was the moment The Strokes ensured they’ll never be invited back to Coachella again! I'm so proud of them
This is exactly like the "next time..." bit on MAFS

Remember when you could just be on the internet and post in forums without being a fucking content creator?
Have a good one, George
