It’s probably because my art style isn’t very painterly and is soft to begin with. I’ll probably have to just experiment and adjust on a per drawing basis if I used the technique

Seeing everyone on twitter using this orange layer tech to great effect while every piece I've exprimented on just looks terrible with it
