There's nothing more American than going to Sheetz to save $6 on your tank of 88 octane (raving about it out loud) and then plowing your savings into losing scratcher tickets

Halfway through the 2026 legislative session, there’s still no consensus on data center bills • Virginia Mercury This legislation won’t satisfy community members who today feel under siege from the onslaught of data center development. But as General Assembly leaders are making clear, the onslaught will continue...

So upset about this "One thing House and Senate leaders from both parties agree on is that they want the data center boom to continue, and they aren’t taking guff on this point from the rank-and-file, not to mention angry community members." virginiamercury.com/2026/02/20/h...

The legislation I want: Require each individual Data Center to publicly report their water & electricity consumption on at least a quarterly basis. We have to have this data to know & continue to know if datacenters are in the public interest. We can't lose our water to this stuff.

He should. I'd venture that about 20% of school staff commutes from the Lake Monticello area.

That's Spencer's spot. Unless we get at catastrophic injury and need to stay afloat.

I'll give Cville Schools props on this. I'm on the Senior year of the last of 2 kids attending from Lake Monticello. Not once have we had to come in when it was too dangerous on our drive & not so bad in town. Lots of Cville teachers living here.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days. The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.

It will solve something. The GOP power structure will completely fracture and there will not be another consensus leader in our lifetime (unless Vance declares Martial Law). The cracks are already there. They are already imploding.

Why does the Cville area always have to be the sacrificial lamb to take one for the team?

Donate to Help Zoey Beat Leukemia, organized by Julie Bendle Help Zoey Beat Leukemia Zoey is a precocious, funny, and determined 3-year-old who loves unicorn… Julie Bendle needs your support for Help Zoey Beat Leukemia

My neighbors just up the street from us own A-squared pizza in Charlottesville, and their youngest was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Their family is really nice, and this is a huge bummer right before the holidays. A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help with everything.

The best scenic overlook of Charlottesville on the Monticello trails is high up its steepest and most difficult trail (Jason Stevens). Most people miss it hiking up hill, but when descending it a gap in the trees will briefly present this view.
