I’m considering grabbing the F/SN remaster because of this. Idk the action is stellar, the direction is great, and all the master/servant dynamics are super compelling and really appeal to what I enjoy in the rest of the series. It’s giving X/1999 mixed with Durarara. It’s melting my brain
I’m only half way through but Fate/Strange Fake might be the most hype I’ve ever been for an anime. I’m not much of a Fate fan (I’ve seen the ufotable stuff and I love some meltyblood but that’s it) but I love Durarara and that leaves this show perfectly autism shaped for me I guess.

I havent tried the netcode yet. There is no remapping keyboard movement. I can alt tab without the game freezing! Display settings are a little finicky for me. Primer of Duel is in there but untranslated. Training is serviceable enough and even has a hitbox viewer. A little barebones but good for me

Like I want to reread Heart of Thomas, Land of the Lustrous, and X/1999 so bad but there’s so much else that is more pressing. It makes me sad to think how few things you have the time to truly peel back all the layers of in one lifetime. But I continue to yearn to see the clockwork inside.
I wish i had more time to re-experience the art I love because in many cases I find that it only gets better the more intimate you become with it. Now that I’ve done some writing of my own, I have started to see how layered and deliberate all the little details can be. There’s so much to appreciate
That said they wanted to focus in on the relationship dynamics themselves rather than the forces that shaped said dynamics, and they really succeeded at doing that so I can’t complain. Put it along side the Steppenwolf movie as a labor of love that is best as supplemental material not adaptation
The lighting and blocking was absolutely fantastic. Act one really captured the whimsy of being gay and in love in the medieval german countryside. Act two had to do a lot of telling and not showing which really bogged things down. It just needed to be like double the length lol
