I've been getting a bunch of emails about buying my business (which they identify by its legal name, not the DBA name I use). I never open them, but the subject line of the latest one claims they have private equity of "$2M to $35M" and if I didn't think it was a scam before, I sure do now.

Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers is also on sale for $3! (I got some to give away on a day when I have extra spoons.)
You can tell I spend too much time on Tumblr because every time I see a black cat's face pointed upward I say "See Him Face!"
This is a particularly excellent example, with hunting stare and visible fang tips on Him Face.
This is just to say

That really would be nice. Buying clothes is so frustrating and it seems like it just keeps getting worse. I spent hours yesterday looking for tops online and it seems like nearly every store just has the same choices. I'm starting to think I should learn to make my own clothes. 😔
(But yes, divorcing from Google still seems like a good idea.)
Sorry, friends -- this actually does seem to be opt-in (I was super tired and misunderstood that first paragraph). But be sure you understand what you're agreeing to if you connect Gemini to your other apps!
I read through it again based on a reply, and it sounds like it is opt-in (that first paragraph of the article is hella misleading). Thought I wonder if people will understand what they're agreeing to or if they'll be like "terms and conditions yadda yadda that's fine" and unwittingly agree. 🫤
Thank you so much for pointing that out! The first couple of paragraphs made it sound like just accepting the upgrade would opt you in, so I didn't read the whole article. I'm glad to know it's not as bad as I originally thought.
Did he latch it closed again after his escape? 🤔 Where's the CCTV footage when you need it?
not sure any website is going to be able to withstand the internet joy when It Happens but this one is definitely not
Heads up: A Deadly Education (The Scholomance Book 1) by @naominovik.bsky.social is on US ebook sale for $3; as is usually the case, I got some copies for random giveaway.
You! Shall! Not! Pass!
Thank you, @courtneymilan.com , and everyone else for giving us a clear way to help! I was so upset after ICE killed Renee Good, but donating filament made such a difference for me -- there was something concrete I could *do* at a time when so many of us felt helpless.
Of our horror people -- Candace Nola -- needs our help RIGHT NOW to afford life-saving care.

Good point!
When Dad was first in the program, they didn't do that -- you just had to agree that you wouldn't sell the item within 6 months. But I guess either their legal department or the IRS got after them about it. (At least clothes were mostly $0 income. I still have several 'free' sweaters.)
OMG 😂 I can totally see that happening. (My dad was in that program for a long time. It was a great help, but occasionally it was a mixed blessing.)
Speaking of buying ebooks directly, we offered this as a fundraiser to help with the fact that I couldn't work post-surgery, so I will be taking it down soon. But if you would like to support us & get a ton of ebooks directly from us, HAVE A BUNDLE!
Pay $20 or whatever.

They are every bit as good as I remembered. YUM.
Suddenly remembered the box of Samoas that have been in my desk drawer, waiting for a day when I really needed them. TODAY IS THAT DAY.
Beyond awful. I get that the supervisors had no idea what to do, but you can't expect people to just ignore the fact that one of their coworkers just fell over and died.

In case anyone needs it, the BBC, bless them, posted all 6 hours of the Colin firth version of Pride and Predjudice not that long ago.
In an age where everything is getting more expensive, it’s lovely that someone made a classic more accessible.

I hadn't listened to the sound before. That bird is seriously noisy!

Just past 9:30 and I'm about to brew my third cup of tea today. That's not a great sign.
