🌀 Las corrientes marinas arrastran plásticos y microplásticos a zonas del océano, formando cinco grandes concentraciones. Más que islas de plástico, son constelaciones de residuos flotantes. La mayor, en el Pacífico, abarca un área equivalente al doble del tamaño de Borneo.
💡 Los microplásticos, fragmentos de menos de 5 mm, se generan al degradarse neumáticos, ropa sintética y envases. Llegan a los océanos, a través de ríos y aguas residuales, donde contaminan hábitats, alteran la cadena alimentaria y amenazan la biodiversidad.
