Watched the camrip of the Mario Galaxy movie and it was loads better than the first one. Fox McCloud was in it and Jack Black didn't sing any songs so I give it a thumbs up.

Injury Reserve's final album kind of comes to mind as it was quite a bit more experimental than their earlier stuff while also being incredibly well received among fans and critics, also Ulver kinda did this when they went from making black metal to trip hop although music critics were not big on it
