A page from Captain Marvel by Jim Starlin that is incredibly difficult to put into words. It features 10 separate panels broken up into four rows of 2, 3, 4 and then 1. The first 2 panels depict the distortion of reality, with perspective bending and the speech bubbles doing likewise, as Thanos becomes a god, and the universe is engulfed by his madness. The next 3 panels start with a speech bubble demanding that Captain Marvel “—DIE!” And so he does, in these and the next 4 panels by rapidly aging to death. But the third row of 4 panels show an aged and decrepit Captain launching himself at the Cosmic Cube that is powering Thanos’ madness intending to strike it with a karate chop. He does so and the final panel, stretching the width of the page, shows a figure silhouetted in an explosion on a rooftop.

For maximum effect think of the star gate sequence from 2001: A Space Odessey.

Jim Starlin’s Captain Marvel run which saw him battling with Thanos over the Cosmic Cube and gave us pages like this:

(It’s technically an event as well, although I think it only crossed over with Daredevil and the Avengers. And possibly Iron Man)

Genuinely enjoy listening- it's even made me re-evaluate parts of Who I had previously been underwhelmed by! Well done to you and all your guests

IIRC it’s not necessarily down to the BBC: they don’t actually own the theme and have to licence it from music publisher BMG (before that I believe the rights were owned by Warner Music)

My head cannon explanation is that as the Daleks evolved to become more robotic in a bid to deafest the Movellans, the Movellans evolved to become more emotional to defeat the Daleks

2000ad- I'm old enough that my first issue was prog 1, but young enough so that it disturbed me enough that I was too scared to read it again for a while. But from this issue on I was a regular, and fortunate enough to back track and find earlier progs

I love the 5 book alternative season in the Target range: Dr 3 introduced in Auton Invasion; Silurians in Cave Monsters; Jo and the Master are introduced in Doomsday Weapon; The Master’s captured in the Daemons; and in the season finale the Silurian’s cousins and the Master team up in the Sea Devils

with a woman, all following a strange old man seemingly being psychically controlled by giant worms: the Twin Dilemma is a David Lynch film.

Just very, very badly realised

I rewatched it a while back and came up with an interesting thought-experiment to make it more enjoyable. It's a road move featuring a cop investigating kidnapped twins who comes across a mentally unhinged man (who five minutes before was a completely different person) in an abusive relationship

They take the Avengers format of a location or theme (the Loch Ness Monster, a village of doubles, man eating plants) and build the entire story about investigating just that, with no other intention other than entertainment

Season 13 is a bizarre season, as for all it’s in the “gothic” period, it contains three stories that could be the template of Dr Who as the Emma Peel era Avengers, with Seeds of Doom being their apex (Terror of the Zygons and Android Invasion laying the groundwork)

Similar to me as a teen in the 80’s: you’d start the evening with a Diana Rigg Avengers repeat; followed by Rick Mayall/Ben Elton alt comedy and end the night with a Luis Buñuel film

REGGIE opening credits ABC sitcom
REGGIE opening credits ABC sitcom YouTube video by Gilmore Box

There was a US version of The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin: Reggie, starring Richard Mulligan of Soap fame. I remember watching it on Channel 4 in the UK. The opening credits show just how much the US writers understood the original, and why it only lasted 6 episodes youtu.be/wSwZmu3n5O0?...
