Everyone rides more but women provide a really good indicator of how good or bad our infrastructure is.

All supports need to be targeted to those most in need. Rewarding those with the biggest vehicle is not helpful.

Pierre Poilievre keeps trying to challenge Mark Carney on his economic credentials.
Of all the dumb fights Pierre Poilievre has picked over the course of his career, this might be the dumbest one yet. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/04/20/o...
I’m old enough to remember badly educated knuckle draggers like Pierre Poilievre and Andrew Scheer assuring us that a) 🇨🇦Canada is broken and b) 🇨🇦Canada doesn’t walk tall on the world stage.
Having tested opinions world-wide over the past 10 years, Ipsos unsurprisingly proves them to be liars.
🤷🏼🤭🤷🏼
Pierre Poilievre is picking a fight he can't win. "this isn’t about executing on an intelligent political strategy. It’s about protecting Poilievre’s ego & re-living his happier days, when he was riding high in the polls....in opposition to a PM he could demean as just a drama teacher.” t.ly/7XkoV
We can do better.
"Too often, the result is that the truth was losing and the lies were winning."
For those of us that believe in truth it "100% has not" however if you read At A Loss For Words by Carol Off you do get the sense that the far right have found a way to distort the meaning. Well worth the read.
"They were so lucky I was looking"
Ummm no. Stopping in time for a child running onto the street is not heroic/lucky, it is your goddamn obligation as a driver. Cost of entry. Kids are allowed to be unpredictable, you are not.
This year, Bike Week faced a significant cut to its core funding.
Each year our free programming reaches more than 14,000 Winnipeggers. To make that happen again this year, we need a little extra support. Can you help pump our tires? Every little bit helps. t.ly/OyWF2

April 19–25 is National Volunteer Week and we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the volunteers that help us to make Bike Week a success year after year. That is especially true for our volunteer board members who take time throughout the year to make this event happen.
So when you’re telling the truth, say it persuasively, and REPEAT YOURSELF. Saying it once isn’t nearly enough. #UrbanTruth

Poilievre's property rights push would shake Canada's legal foundations. "Most people have low legal literacy in this area and carry prejudicial beliefs about Indigenous peoples that make the pitch land." Clearly this includes Poilievre. t.ly/P1X3W
Carney paused the gas tax to help Canadians. Some say it helps the wrong ones. “The problem we have is that people don't have enough money to pay for essentials when the price goes so high, so let's deal with that income problem by giving people more income and let the price do its job.” t.ly/_kpy4
Standard operating procedure for the CPC, spread disinformation or in this case flat out lie.
"Poilievre has been...lying about federal policy, claiming that “Liberal taxes” add 25 - 28 cents/litre....In reality, the federal excise tax on gas is the same 10 cents per litre it was under the Harper...the Clean Fuel Standard adds 1.7 and 2.5 /l. The rest of his figure is provincial gas taxes."
Canada's gas tax debate is even dumber than it looks. "Carney could have used the $2.4 B gas tax pause to increase the Canada Child Benefit & GST credits. That would help those most in need & avoid dampening the price signal being sent by oil markets..to electrify as quickly as possible.

The Wpg Sea bears understand that Game Day begins the minute you leave your house. Make getting to the game enjoyable for the whole family by embracing active transportation! @bikewinnipeg.bsky.social @akohan.bsky.social @daveelmore12.bsky.social
Yes we know that it takes more than speed limit reductions but clearly they make a difference. City of Winnipeg (and many other cities need to wake up and take the easy first step to make streets safer for everyone. @safespeedswpg
Did you know? Per-capita vehicle travel rose in the 20th century, peaked early in the 21st century, and has declined since.

20th-century road building boosted GDP; 21st-century productivity depends on better transit, not more roads.

Pedestrian Beg Buttons are the worst.
Retired and planning to stay that way. I will however continue to advocate for a better city and encourage "young" progressive Winnipeggers to run.
Citizens of Winnipeg should invest in a mayor and council that support more car free streets and all forms of transportation.
