I strongly believe video game companies should never be publicly traded. Having to consider share prices forces bad, short sighted decisions that harm the games almost immediately. “The street” doesn’t understand how games work as a business and the timelines are too volatile.
More money to what end? Just to have it Scrooge McDuck style? Why can a game continuing to make a profit and make its players happy not be enough?
The problem has never been graphics, live service, US worker salaries, or whatever they want to blame today.
It’s corporate greed, pure and simple.
I remember back in my late twenties going through my first mass layoffs being outraged because I knew how much money was coming in and how little they paid us. I did not then nor do I now really understand or respect game companies being public and needing to make ever increasing profits.
My flight home has been delayed a total of 3 hours now. I think I live here? In the Vancouver airport? Never to see my husband dogs or bed again?
I dislike that this is admittedly vibes based. Like dailies in animal crossing are fine but dailies in, say, a puzzle mobile game are bad and raise your rating? As a PM I prefer non-reset dailies anyway but feels like my games might get dinged cuz the reviewer didn’t like my face.
Oh dear that bodes well for no one (though shout out to the enby rockboi on cr3 at the same time I was playing an enby rockboi no I haven’t played a cis character since I came out what of it)

We finished our D&D campaign, in our round robin epilogue my bard ended up in two throuples with a PC and an NPC in each as both of their main personas and this from our art chat really summarizes that this was exactly my goal in playing a bard all along

Ugh this blows for artists, also for people like me who enjoy art - literally the only reason I’m still on IG is I like to just watch videos of people creating or look at pictures of their creations. It like…brings me small joy in this otherwise awful world.

I've been watching what's happening in Minneapolis and I don't know what to say. Two American citizens killed by ICE in three weeks. Countless more who are not citizens. People afraid to leave their homes.
