Rainfall totals in the Raleigh-Durham area. One station is at 10 inches and several are 8+ inches

So this hurricane or whatever NC got is insane. Just spent 3 hrs on every back road in Alamance county trying to find a way to Durham and every road was flooded out. 40 is shut down. Ended up having to get a hotel in Burlington because I was stuck 25 mins from home after driving 9+ hrs today

Another example of incredibly rapid rising water just south of Chapel Hill. The Haw River has risen 15 ft in 5 hours and forecast to crest tomorrow very close to an all-time record. #Chantal

just an FYI: in Paris France where large protests are a regular occurrence, metro stations are *always* closed on the protest route for safety reasons

You can’t see me bc I’m holding a flag but guys I live in a 2k person extremely rural town in one of the reddest counties of WI. So many people showed up there was a line all the way to the highway.

I often feel a bit afraid due to my identity in this area but #nokings brought out so many

Minnesota’s flags will fly at half staff in honor and remembrance of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman.

She woke up every morning determined to make Minnesota a better place, and she will be greatly missed.

House appropriators released an 168-page committee report for the Homeland Security funding bill, detailing major bi-partisan concerns with Trump's ICE plan.

Even Republicans are urging Trump not to spend money we don't have to fund immigration efforts. subscriber.politicopro.com/f/?id=000001...

What Are My Rights During an ICE Raid? Immigration law can be tricky, but here's what you should know.

Dealing with law enforcement can be stressful, so it’s important to know your rights before you’re face-to-face with ICE agents.

While there’s never any guarantee that law enforcement officers will follow the law, here’s what they can and can’t legally do to you and what you can legally demand. ⤵️

(🧵) Friendly reminder that if you’re overwhelmed right now and feel like there’s nothing you can do, you’re wrong! Not everything requires drone footage or the national news. Real change starts at the local level and it’s powerful. (1/23)

Here’s a thread of things you CAN do.

Thousands of New Yorkers march in lower Manhattan calling for ICE out of New York.

Starting at Foley Square and organized by PSL, the masses have flooded the streets and are moving west. This demo is permitted but even if it wasn’t, it would be far too large for NYPD to contain.
