What a lovely, lovely Hugo Best Novel shortlist, my word. One of the very strongest I have seen in years, and one where if I haven't already read the books, I sincerely want to 💖 Our genre is in such rude health.

Hola Womble. Taking a break from SFF with The Light Years by Elizabeth Jane Howard. It's slow and delicious, examining the minutiae of life in a sprawling family during the '20s. While not much happens, Howard can do more to create a character in a paragraph than other writers do in pages.
