Libraries are great. They are an amazing community resource. And sometimes they do silent auctions as fundraisers. And sometimes you win a 1933 edition of THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME by HG Wells.
I love libraries.

I really need Nurembergs to happen.

So every week, people would start boxing up their offices on Wednesday, we’d come in on Friday, move out a desk, bookshelf, and credenza, and replace them with an identical desk, bookshelf, and credenza, all over the complex. Then on Monday folks would start unpacking their new offices. Every week.
@notalawyer.bsky.social I had a head-spinningly bullshit job for the Texas State Capitol. I was a temp mover working under a guy whose entire job was coordinating office moves, which they did every week. Whenever somebody promoted, they got a new office, which required other office moves.
This piece from The Bulwark is a must-must-read. Minnesota is still under siege. The regime is saying publicly that the operation is over, but nothing has changed on the ground. open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...
@michaelhobbes.bsky.social I heard you complaining about Peter’s mouth noise. Are you using RX11 to clean it up? I have found the “Remove Mouth Clicks” feature to be extremely helpful.
Anyway, this is the song I wrote about Renee Good, the coward who murdered her, the liars that enabled him, and the new Nuremberg Trials to come.

Guys, after dinner my adult son said, “Donald Trump’s future grave is my favorite gender-neutral bathroom,” and I feel like I did ok.
If you’re going to have a Woody Guthrie sticker on your guitar for years and years (like me) and times like these descend, I don’t think you get to stay quiet. Or at least I don’t. The example of Woody, Pete, Phil, Bob, and even Bruce is clear. So this is the song I wrote for Renee Good. #reneegood
I kept thinking about how Jesus, Shakespeare, and the words inscribed at the Statue of Liberty demand we welcome strangers, immigrants, and refugees. Last week I wrote this song, “Mother of Exiles,” and raced to get it out. I hope you’ll share it. #protestsongs

This is insanity. Trump already went after his own government for millions in damages for his criminal cases, and now he’s going after his own government again for $10 BILLION, when he oversees all the parties. youtu.be/C1uKSXaUWYQ?...
A couple days behind in Jeopardy, but I love that @kenjennings.bsky.social loves the Jesus and Mary Chain. Also, Melvins and Primus in the same category made me very, very happy.
Like so many of us, I’ve been horrified & outraged over the shooting in Minnesota and the response to it. I’ve been thinking about it constantly, trouble sleeping, and then this weekend these words just poured out all at once and I wrote a song about it. So here’s my song for Renee. #reneegood
@nnedi.bsky.social Just finished SPACE CAT. Absolutely adored it. Please give Periwinkle extra scritches from me 😸
@jodyavirgan.com I loved the Christine Jorgensen episode! But no aside about Ed Wood and how Jorgensen inspired GLEN OR GLENDA? My film nerd heart breaks. 😁

Today I take on the sale of Warner Bros. over at @nerdsofafeather.bsky.social. Whoever wins, the audience loses, and Hollywood will be changed forever. “Hollywood is Dead. Long Live Hollywood.” www.nerds-feather.com/2025/12/holl...
I showed two of the kids PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES. Their favorite gag was reversing through the motel room, and favorite lines were:
“Those…aren’t…pillows!” and
“You play with your balls a lot.”
Good choices.
Also, they gave Elle Fanning fuck-all to do in that movie. “Stand here and try not to cry, cool?”
Finally watching A COMPLETE UNKNOWN as a big ol’ folk nerd. I liked it, but felt like the better project is a Cinematic Universe where Lead Belly gets the first movie, then Woody, then Pete, then Odetta, then Joan and Johnny and Bob in no particular order.
Two cats on either side of a lap and a sci-fi novel collection.
The cats don’t like each other, but they both like me, and I guess 1950s science fiction.

Somehow SPECIES — the 1995 sci-fi alien boob movie — stars Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker, Michael Madsen, and Michelle Williams.
I don’t know. I’ve been rocking this playlist at Halloween for a few years and I dig it. Hard to go wrong with Type O Negative at Halloween. open.spotify.com/playlist/41t...
I did a little bit of reading about it last week, and it was neat to think that odd building was just out there existing somewhere, but it’s even weirder to think it’s now surrounded by tract homes. Very Edward Scissorhands.
That’s awesome!
