There's going to be people going off script no matter what, but it legitimately seemed a lot of people were blindsided by the Senate decision

I maintain that the primary sin was not making sure everyone knew that the shutdown was not happening (or had a chance of not happening) in advance- my memory is there were House members out on a branch triumphantly proclaiming that they supported the shutdown (and the House seemed legit blindsided)
I think my favorite is this (but specifically the live version). Reflective but also a measure of detached, I think: youtu.be/7Nuxp8Rgryk?...
There is an unfortunate amount of online "my bf/gf expects me to listen to the bad things that happened to them today, how much emotional labor am I expected to bear?"
(The answer is that he got it from a Neo-Nazi/white nationalist source)
(And to be clear, it was not true at all)
...uhh "after AOC moved to Tel Aviv" (?)
(But to be clear that section is only for non-citizens)
Could be removable under the security/espionage/criminal activity endangering public safety or nat security/activity to overthrow the government by force/terrorism grounds 8 USC section 1227(a)(4)(A-B)
But cells probably only actually get targeted based on specific intel (not mass enforcement)
Yeah the world is always ending, always on fire. All we can do is build and press on
I was a straight through and while I appreciate that I now have more experience in the field than most people of a similar age to me, being like 25-27 years old as an attorney is not something I would wish on anyone
In my assertion that Stew Peters is a holocaust denier and neo-nazi...? It's Wikipedia, but it's right here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stew_Pe...
The person who he is quote-tweeting approvingly, Stew Peters is, among other things, a holocaust denier and neo-Nazi
The squirrel ads were common in the tunnels under Crystal City, and they've shut down most of the shops there now
Marine stim pack sounds live rent free in my brain
Kssht ahh yeah. Kssht ahh, that's the stuff
Board of Immigration Appeals contributed significantly to this with Matter of Yajure Hurtado, which ruled that anyone here who entered without a visa is ineligible for bond
Most circuits other than the 5th consider this bullshit but all immigration bond cases need a federal habeas attached now
Honestly? Takes a bit of time. I didn't get mine until a few years in, until "I don't know what I'm doing" turns into instinct of "I've done this before enough that I don't need to think about the basics"
Thing about K Dick was he at least used his madness. The Divine Invasion is a wild book but it's interesting in its madness
Kingdom Hearts 4 confirmed?
Like, are we forgetting that the lawsuit that ended Gawker involved Gawker publishing revenge porn and refusing to take it down pending trial, where during trial the editor AJ Daulerio said he would publish CSAM because it was newsworthy?
A photo of Chairwoman Spanberger, leading us into a bright future in the Democratic Dictatorship of Virginia (lauditory)
In this household we stan Chairwoman Spanberger
*non-family and non-Asylum based immigration
I think we would also have to either get rid of the Unlawful Presence clock or at least offer a generous waiver for it.
It will never happen because Department of State, but I think paring down the Consular Nonreviewability doctrine would also be useful in encouraging more non-family immigration
Stoicism got a bad rap because the idea was misused by idiots trying to make it a gender thing
But there is genuine benefit in being a person who doesn't scream raw emotions to the world every time there is adversity
THEY BREAK UPON US
Tempting to look at Rs being aggressive the past years leading to the current trifecta and asking "why can't we do that?"
I think it's important that their main legislative successes are reconciliation, they can't get anything done in Congress. It's all being done through an unfettered executive
I also think there's a decent chance it doesn't happen if he had been extremely aggressive towards everything R in the past few months, though
I guess the summary is do we want to FIGHT and try to get enough seats that we can force through what we say or do we want incremental/piecemeal wins while we're in the minority? Not saying either approach is wrong, I think it's just the dividing line between like here and the D leadership
I think there's a desire for strong anti-R rhetoric all the time, and I understand that. I just think there's a real tradeoff (the success of the discharge petitions!) Do we want constant fire and brimstone, or do we want to succeed every once in a while while in the minority, which needs R buy-in
If I'll defend him for a moment, it looks like he's walking to something while a bunch of journalists shout questions at him
Getting this done now is going to need R buy-in. Which means he'll need time to phrase this right, where "shouting back at a journalist" may be counterproductive
