In working on the no gen AI directory, I've looked at a LOT of artist portfolios. Like, 350+ of them at this point. And I thought I'd compile what I was seeing done right, what surprised me (positively), and then what I was commonly seeing done wrong. Use this to tweak your own portfolio!

I'd have taken pics of the really cool green wall cloud last night, but I saw it right above me from out my front window & that's not exactly the *ideal* viewing position to linger in
I feel like I get midwestern points for scheduling the contractor *while* in the basement with hail hitting tho.
eeesh. So baseball sized hail will really really wreck vinyl siding and a roof. Shocked it didn't shatter any windows, including on the car but dang. They actually buried themselves a half inch in the yard where they hit.
I really prefer it when *I* chase the storms, not the other way around.
Just replaced my furnace filter in case you wondered how much I hate batch varnishing paintings. lol.
(it needed it tho)
The solemn process of cashiering him suitably updated to substitute breaking a selfie stick instead of a sword, and deleting his strava account instead of cutting the buttons off his coat.
and will lose 2 due to Hegseth ordering a 40y/o destroyer to ramp off a reef on the way home for "the content"
this new PR pivot of "we're using AI but only for technical things you dont understand" is really funny. why if in the areas i do understand it makes everything worse would i assume it improves anything in the areas that i don't understand
Right?? Like, there has to be a service entrance that doesn't require the Emerald claw key thingy somewhere
Like when you enter a sealed tomb that you've opened by collecting the 12 stones of the Elder Omens or whatever and see freshly stocked candelabras blazing away. Like who is the tomb contractor and what entrance do *they* use?? Alt entrance should be via getting a temp job as candle lighter.
"it was lowered bc of street racers"
...do... do... they normally follow speed limits? I uh... 'k.
I'm going to start a speed limit street racing gang now. They all end in ties but everyone acts SUPER competitive and aggro about it anyway lol
also, and I loathe cars and driving, but if you set a speed limit of 25mph on a main artery that's 8 lanes wide and full of ppl doing 40mph, I feel like you should maybe change the physical design of the road first if you want it to be 25mph.
New dental crown and a traffic ticket for 10mph over- today is apparently a high-roller day for me. Just throwing money out there like a rockstar. Making it RAIN.
hahaha no no, that's ok. we're all just winging it on here.
that's gnat a joking matter
What a mood today lol. Incredible work!
Let the spilled coffee be the sacrifice to travel misfortune. "Ye, this coffee hath sacrificed itself upon this page & its ink, that thy bags make it to thine destination " lolol. But also- seriously, have a good trip.
Some of the same people who obsessively quoted Office Space back in high school are now writing LinkedIn posts about seamlessly integrating AI processes to optimize shareholder deliverables, and I'm wondering where we got lost as a society.
Wyrd Ones: An oil painting of a young woman in white sitting in front of a tall older woman clothed in a long dress with a golden headscarf. The young woman holds a cut golden thread in hand clutched to her upper chest. The older woman holds an old pair of copper scissors and gazes out at the viewer. In an overcast sky, a crow flares for a landing, its right wing missing many of its feathers. To the left of both figures, under a dark grove of trees two other figures clothed in gold headscarves stand together holding hands. One holds a distaff with golden wool in her alternate hand while the other holds a drop spindle to produce golden thread, in her left hand.
"Wyrd Ones" 18x24 oil on panel
Painted during a prolonged stretch of illness that lasted two-ish months. A meditation on surrendering to the story the Fates have woven- whatever that might be.
where you, by any chance, late in giving an adorable fluffy someone their food?
According to the ancient law of the midwest, I will reciprocate with some freshly baked bread or box of early season strawberries.
Snow deep enough that your good midwestern neighbor steps out of their house in sweatpants and tells you to stop shoveling bc they'll get out the snowblower and plow and take care of it for you. Which is good bc in all honesty I was dying.
Happy March 15. Here is my favorite Ides of March meme:
The similarity of seals to catty middle schoolers is absolutely striking- except that US middle schoolers see more actual combat ofc.
Serious answer: Coastline is too long.
Less serious but possibly still correct answer: seals are all too busy going on podcasts to gossip about one another to actually deploy.
Making you the cheapest commentator for sale this cycle tbh. A bargain at twice the bike.
At least one of these has a gen ai cover. Very possibly both.
This is not ok and is a bloody shame as the books would have been very much of interest to me.
Publishers-authors there is no excuse for this.
Gen ai is a tool of the enemy. We do not need it. We will not use it.
...now I'm questioning the times I've sent prints back bc the colors were off. oh man lol. But I kinda have to assume collectors see the same as me, otherwise I've got no way to really judge quality sooo
This is pretty helpful bc I've had heated debates with my partner bc I'm seeing colors that are "off" in paintings I'm working on and she insists they're dead on. So, if we've got different sensitivity to color difference- that would be why.
Very cool.
and mine was apparently 0.0046 which either says that my oil paint color mixing doesn't need to be *nearly* as fussy as it is, or that it's just right. Not sure which lol.
