But no. I wired it and my GPS screen through a fuse box, but it turned out those terminals were the auxiliary lights. At least I now have a way to turn them off. So long as I do not also need the GPS screen. Really I need to do it properly, but that means removing panels which is too much effort.
I took the opportunity to replace my temporary bodged wiring with different temporary bodged wiring. But when I removed the battery to top it up there was something else attached, I assumed when my bike was serviced the previous owner's USB I never used was reattached causing a parasitic drain.
But Den Stora Älgvandringen has started!
(Trandansen has finished, but will be back next month to see the crane and swan chicks hatching)

It took so long to get a new tyre fitted for my bike and I finally get to go out but the battery is flat. One of us is cursed.
What is new this year?
— New camera positions to give a new perspective and hopefully more elk. The black grouse mire returns [after several years] because of viewer demand, and the bear mire.
— Also a new position we call utkiken (the lookout) a place earlier than entrén (the entrance) camera.
"Spring is early, it is time for the elk to start marching"
Den Stora Älgvandringen will start five days earlier than planned, tonight from 11pm BST (midnight in Sweden).

A pair of screaming cranes walk amongst the tall yellow grass along the edge of the pond where they have nested (though the nest is out of shot). The lynx stop between them, though a little further back, and watches one of them. Rain drops are falling on the pond.
A moment of excitement earlier for the final evening of Trandansen. A lynx turned up at the pond and the cranes made a lot of noise. But after a lot of walking around the lynx went back into the forest, the crane pair went back to their nest, and the swan pair just sat it all out anyway.

In 2024 broadcaster Yle live streamed nature photographer Atte Henriksson spending a week in a hide by a small a lake in southern Finland to try to film Trandansen (dancing cranes). There was not much dancing then, but he is trying again, and it started two days ago

Stefan Edlund, producer of Den Stora Älgvandringen, stands on the ice at the edge of a channel on the frozen Ångermanälvan [the Ångerman river]. Parts of the river have already thawed while away from the banks the forest floor lacks snow. The images is a screenshot from Sverige Live oa which he was previewing the return of the programme.
They are setting up the cameras for Den Stora Älgvandringen and there appears to be a lot less snow than usual still on the ground for its start. Especially with it still over a week from starting, maybe they will be forced to start early again like last year?
A grey heron staring into the pond on a sunny day in the Kyoto Garden in Holland Park in west London.
Had a clinic appointment in town so I decided to visit the Kyoto Garden for some peace and quiet. There was no peace or quiet, it was very busy with all the tourists. No peacocks either. All rather disappointing. But in the middle of it all this dude's attention was elsewhere.
Why do these all sound like gay slurs
The person who covers songs with lyric in classical Latin has made another.
Everybody wants to rule the world and Major Tom (coming home) are amazing, and this is just as good.

This evening I randomly remembered that in olden times people could withdraw cash from a shop when paying with a card.

It is nearly elk new year!
Live broadcast of swimming elk (and the river, birds, trees, reindeer, the thawing snow) on SVT Play from Wednesday April 22nd to Friday May 8th.

My glucose levels have been running too high recently but I felt so odd earlier I had to do a blood test: 2.6. What a day, a hypo and a 70 mph puncture. One a risk to life and the other required careful steering. I really hate hypos, but at least they justify keeping packs of sweets everywhere.
For a bad experience it could not have gone better. Recovery only took 20 minutes to arrive so I did not have to lay the bike down, and the driver was lovely and got the bike returned to the back yard. Big up to Start Rescue and the recovery man.
A relatively large hole in the tyre.
Recovery came very quickly.
Suddenly weaving at 70mph in lane two was fun. So was trying to find the hazard light button. Lucky there was a layby ahead I suppose, though if the was not the police would have been able to help more quickly.
My bike parked at the end of a layby on the A12
Hour long can I sit on a bike before I have to lay it on the ground? The camber means I cannot put the bike on the stand and the puncture means I cannot ride the bike. Recovery estimate is 1 hour. People do not stop when you wave.
Someone else using the free bike parking today. They was another when I arrived, but they only stayed long enough to see how badly I waddled backwards on tiptoes into the bay.

A screenshot of the IMDb page for "Journey to the Center of the Earth" a 1988 film with a rating of 2.6 out of 10. It lists the directors as follows: Rusty Lemorande Albert Pyun (uncredited) And the Writers as: Judith Berg (as Debra Ricci) & Sandra Berg (as Regina Davis) and Albert Pyun (as Kitty Chalmers) and Rusty Lemorande Lemorande is a real person and on Wikipedia it says they "proposed adding physical effects (such as smoke, strobe lights and fiber optic stars) to" a Disney theme park film they wrote with Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. "For this reason, Lemorande is often referred to as the Father of 4D."
Electric Dreams was written by Rusty Lemorande, and with a name like that I had to look them up.
Between the rating and these writing credits I now really need to see this film (sometime in the next 16 years). I guess Alan Smithee was not accepted into the writers' guild.
I have been meaning to watch this film seemingly forever. I had saved the DVD in an Amazon wish list before streaming services even existed!
But it had it all: 80s, romantic comedy, with early home computing, and a proper soundtrack. It was worth the 16 year wait to watch a 26 year old film.

Prophetic.

No idea why Evri has a bad reputation when it is the sender's fault it damages parcels. The proof of delivery photo even showed the big hole facing outwards!
The loss is only US$1.25 for finger splints, 90p or something, so complaining was more about the principle but it cannot even get that right.
