THIS. IS. THE. WAY.

Apparently, inflation is bad, but we must impose tariffs to raise the cost of cheap imports so people buy expensive American goods. We can re-shore manufacturing, but to be cost competitive, we have to fully automate factories, replacing American workers with robots.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

While families are working hard to make ends meet, Donald Trump and Republicans are trying to jam through tax giveaways for the richest Americans—millionaires and billionaires who are getting richer by the day.

Billionaires don’t need another break—working people do.

Every prisoner swap with Russia is like "she is a 14-year-old girl who Putin said sang 'Carol of the Bells' too aggressively and he is a top Russian spy who personally strangled a dissident to death in a London coffee shop"

it’s weird that we’re staring down the second unprecedented economic catastrophe in five years and instead of a novel coronavirus that will go on to kill millions of people this one is just “no one was willing to tell him no”

This is really unfair to everyone who just voted for him for the racism.

Trump and Musk are basically trying to deskill America:
1) kill all white-collar jobs and replace them with AI
2) kill universities
3) use tariffs to turn the U.S. into an economic island manufacturing, oil and ag hub
4) empty the cities
5) push men into manual labor & women back into the kitchen

Hi David! Great to be connected here! I sent you an email a few days ago. Curious to know which exact book you recommended on Ireland and The Troubles. Also- I ordered an extra copy of our next book for book club and will give to one of the others if we end up getting a group email. 😃

What’s the loss of a few million lives when proving a point takes priority?

I was once a child refugee, surviving on USAID rations—without them, my family would have perished. I will never understand the deep-seated cruelty some people carry in their hearts.

It was always apparent but now it's increasingly undeniable that all these 20-something DOGE employees were chosen not *in spite* of inadequate vetting but *because* they would not pass vetting. Trump & Musk chose the people who seemed the most willing to commit illegal acts on their behalf.

SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

*_ Pam Hemphill said she planned to refuse Trump's pardon. (PHOTO: KYLE GREEN FOR WSJ) Pam Hemphill, of Idaho, who served 60 days in prison after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges, said she planned to refuse the presidential pardon.

"It'd be an insult to the Capitol Police and the rule of law, and to our nation," she said. "I pleaded guilty because I was guilty. I don't want to be a part of contributing to them trying to rewrite history-that January 6 was not an insurrection. It was, it was a riot. And I think taking a pardon is like a message that what happened that day was OK."

This is an amazing quote, from a Jan 6 prisoner who is refusing Trump’s pardon.

Why I Just Resigned From The Los Angeles Times By Harry Litman

OK sports fans, so this is my last bulletin for my position at @losangelestimes.bsky.social. I resigned yesterday in protest of the paper's and owner's cozying up to Trump. Here's my explanation on my substack, where I hope you will follow me going forward.
