Step 1: Do a photo shoot!! 📷🤩

So, since I'm just a small designer and I don't know how the bloggers in SL work - thankfully, I got a friend who is helped me to model this!

Next step, Photoshop!

Finally finished up the HUD for tinting the skulls! I decided to give users the flexibility to choose whatever color tint they wanted!

What's left? All the boring administrative stuff. Packaging everything, checking permissions and preparing the #gothcore #secondlife booth!

Next I have to work on the customizable HUD for the skulls!

And... tadaaa... the magic of PBR! When you export properly for PBR, everything works like magic!

Taking a break from the geometry side of things for a while.. optimizing for #secondlife is a pain in the ***

Switching tracks to texturing. Substance Painter is my fav tool for this! Thankfully I paid for this software before Adobe bought them, so mine's the Steam version 😍

This part is most fun!

Oh, that's an optimization routine in Blender! It creates a more uniform and optimized surface topology. Very good for smaller objects where you want to adjust surface detail.

Personally, I mix it with Decimate to optimize and just go with my gut feel 😆

Fit test!! This part... takes a lot of patience! Upload, adjust the LOD settings, adjust physics.. rinse and repeat, until I get the result I'm looking for!

Insider Tip: SL Viewers have the temporary mesh option to test meshes without paying each time, but I'd say the test grid's your best friend!

Next step in in my process.. is to optimize my mesh for #secondlife - I use a combination of remesh and decimate to bring down the triangle count. Lesser is better!

Now that I've been confirmed for the upcoming #gothcore event in #secondlife I figured I'd give a behind-the-scenes peek at my creative process in polishing my exclusive item - Animated Skull Plugs for the Swallow Gauged Ears! 💀👂

The way lovense and xtoys api integrate currently is very third party, but it’s enough of a proof that secondlife scripts can interact with devices.

With some R&D - it could be extended into a haptics / IoT ecosystem!
