New BASHH/BHIVA guidelines on the use of #HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis ( #PrEP ) 2025 are out 💊🧬

They include new sections on equity and risk assessment, shifting away from clinical trial-based eligibility criteria. This aims to reduce barriers and expand access.

BHIVA is very concerned to learn that Gilead has made a decision to close its individual access scheme for #lenacapavir, which in combination with other antiretrovirals, can be lifesaving for a small number of individuals with very limited HIV treatment options. 1/1

Here’s some anecdata for you @fphuk.bsky.social

I mentored 12 people thru the Public Health Speciality Training programme application process this year.

• 4 medics: 100% got an offer
• 8 non-medics (5-20yrs PH work experience): 25% got an offer

The exam (assessment center) was the main barrier.

Research like this is how we'll get DoxyPEP on the NHS?!

Please take part of you can

this is obviously bleak and horrid and I know it's a petty thing to point out but: god we fucking told you so, lesbians and gay men who decided to become transphobic for no apparent reason, we told you the entire LGBTQ community would end up getting screwed over, this was always going to happen

now nearly half way there... anything you can donate would help, huge thanks

That’s amazing.

As a side note I would love if someone would do an oral history of Ringer.

One of the (very few) downsides of Bangkok life is the pollution. This week it’s so bad we’re meant to stay indoors whenever possible and work from home. Definitely feels like a lockdown throwback.

The image is from a "Transparency Center" document and lists guidelines regarding acceptable and prohibited content for insults. It mentions:

1. Insults about:

Character, such as cowardice, dishonesty, criminality, and sexual promiscuity or immorality.

Mental characteristics, including but not limited to accusations of stupidity, intellectual capacity, and mental illness, as well as unsupported comparisons among politically correct (PC) groups based on inherent intellectual traits.

2. Highlighted section:

The document allows allegations of mental illness or abnormality when tied to gender or sexual orientation, referencing political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality. It also acknowledges the non-serious use of terms like "weird."

Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.

Last time I had that it was mild pneumonia but very much not a medical emergency (for me). If you’re not feeling breathless it can probably wait until tomorrow. If you have asthma though it’s worth getting it checked out asap I think.
