Cop-Killer Bullets | Stuart Schrader Biaggi’s rise went hand-in-hand not just with law and order politics but with a shift in the balance of power within the police profession writ large—away from the respected chiefs, and toward the ira...

Incredibly excited to share this brief excerpt from BLUE POWER (@basicbooksgroup.bsky.social), published online today by
@nplusonemag.com. It's about how a cop who became a member of Congress herded police into a powerful lobbying unit. www.nplusonemag.com/online-only/...

Gen X is the worst. We’re filled to the brim with lead paint residue, our parents’ racism, privileged cynicism, boomer-caliber nostalgia for a time that didn’t exist, and an entitled sense that having the most trite contrarian opinions imaginable is somehow “edgy” and thus cool.

Edwin Black caught tons of grief for writing about this years ago, as did a number of Arab scholars who wrote about it (though obviously without access to these additional documents)

Pittsburgh is somehow doing the impossible by keeping both its daily and alt weekly from collapsing while simultaneously securing way better ownership from nonprofits instead of being run by these cartoonishly evil pricks.

Inside the birthplace of Pittsburgh salad A Beaver County spot claims it invented Pittsburgh's iconic fry-topped salad.

You might not have known the french fry salad, aka the Pittsburgh salad, was invented in Beaver County. One of the places that lays claim as inventor, Jerry's Curb Service, is still slinging them & other fast food. I tried it and it's worth the trip. 🍟🥗 www.axios.com/local/pittsb...

Today, I have officially lived one day longer than my dad ever did (49 years & 67 days). Had a little party to celebrate it too. Cheers!

You probably told me all this years ago, but I’ve been genuinely horrific memory so I apologize if you did!

He wasn’t home, but I hope he hits me up after he gets the wallet. I shoved in his mail slot.

Yes! I recognized him from his pic years ago, but I couldn’t remember whether it was from art stuff or punk stuff in the late 90s & early 2000s. I didn’t realize you used to promote shows there!

Found some dude‘s wallet at the park today, and when I look him up, he’s a history prof who wrote about utopianism, social movements, Japanese pop culture, and noise music for decades. His wallet wasn’t lost, it just went on a short dérive. This is clearly psychogeography at work.

The “manosphere” isn’t just a toxic culture; it’s part of a much bigger system of influence.

the same patterns I’ve studied for decades. You have trafficking, MLM-style recruitment, and young men being pulled in as “disciples”, even using techniques like hypnosis. This is cult behavior.

“Trump ruined bad taste”

Congress has rendered itself useless by letting the president unilaterally make decisions about how, where and whether spending happens. Insanity.

Can’t imagine anything less productive than shitting on people protesting during a time of widespread madness, cynicism & despair. People get variously empowered & inspired during protests, and also connect w/ others in powerful ways. They aren’t just for tactical, single-goal purposes.
